friends :)

Hey everyone!! I’m starting at Deakin next term for T2 doing Engineering at the Waurn Ponds campus, and I’d really love to meet some new people before classes start

I studied at RMIT for about a year and a half, but decided to switch degrees, so I’m super excited but also a little nervous starting somewhere new.

I’d love to chat with anyone who’s also starting Engineering, studying at Waurn Ponds, already at Deakin, or just wants to say hi and maybe be friends!! Feel free to message me anytime :)

ps have a amazing day if ur reading this

mechanical engineering mac

Hello!
So I was previously doing a different course at a different uni and I already have a really new mac. Would it be fine to use? Also which vm would I need to use for the apps?

Hey everyone,
I’m currently an RMIT student studying Bachelor of Cyber Security, but I recently got an offer for Deakin’s Bachelor of Engineering (Industry) (Honours) and I’m considering making the switch.
Coming from RMIT, I just wanted to ask a few things from current Deakin students, especially engineering students:
How is Deakin’s social life compared to RMIT?
Is it easy to make friends at Deakin?
For full-time Engineering, roughly how many contact hours/classes are there per week?
How many days on campus would I realistically need to attend?
How intense is the workload for first-year engineering?
I’m mainly trying to get a realistic idea of what student life and the weekly schedule are like before making the switch.
Any honest advice would be appreciated :)

Hey, just looking for some honest opinions on my situation.

I’m currently repeating a subject at uni that I failed last semester, and it’s not looking great again. The main issue is that I was overseas for about the first 5–6 weeks of the semester due to personal reasons, and then after I came back I was unwell for around 2 weeks, which made it really hard to catch up.

The course is also run as a bootcamp-style subject, so it’s quite short and fast-paced. Missing that much time at the start made it really difficult to keep up with the content and assessments.

Because of that, I’ve fallen pretty far behind and I’m likely going to fail again. I’ve been considering applying for a late course withdrawal without academic penalty, but I’m not sure if my situation would be considered strong enough.

I do have some documentation for both being overseas and being unwell, but I’m worried it might not be enough since I did attempt to continue the course for a bit.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? And for anyone at RMIT specifically, do they usually accept late withdrawal in situations like this?

Just trying to figure out if it’s worth applying or if I should just accept the fail.

Hi everyone, just wondering if anyone has experience with applying for late course withdrawal at RMIT.
I’m currently enrolled in a short course that finishes very soon, but I’m considering applying for late course withdrawal without academic penalty. I was overseas for part of the course due to personal circumstances, which meant I missed a significant amount of class time and course content. After returning, I also became unwell, which made it difficult to catch up, attend properly, concentrate, and prepare for assessments.
Because it’s a short course, missing that amount of time had a much bigger impact, and I don’t feel like I’m in a realistic position to complete the course requirements properly.
Has anyone applied for late course withdrawal close to the end of a course before? Would this generally be considered a valid reason if I provide medical evidence for the illness period?
Not looking for official advice, just wondering if anyone has gone through something similar or knows how strict RMIT usually is with these applications.
Ps: I do have all medical documents and they have previously been approved for previous extensions during this period.
