Secondary Review passport entitlement and investigation
We began planning this trip to Greece for June 22nd to July 10th since the beginning of the year. I planned a surprise proposal with photographer in santorini on a cliff side sunset with fireworks for June 28th at 815pm. My partner has never been to Greece and I am greek so it was going to be a very fun trip.
I noticed I could not locate my passport in my house or my girlfriends apartment on june 17th. June 17th at night I took passport pictures with the plan to apply for an urgent passport request.
It started to become difficult because it was not a regular passport application but a lost passport request. I did not have my old passport number, I checked all old bookings , photos, looked for old boarding passes etc. I could not find it so they said I would have to apply with a lost passport form plus my birth certificate. Things kept getting worse as I did not find my birth certificate but they said a proof of receipt of an urgency request with service Quebec will do. Since then ( June 18) I have received a physical copy of my Birth certificate. I have provided it to passport canada and also attached it in our photos.
After finally finishing the forms on June 18 and paying 295$ for urgent pick up they told me I can come at 2pm on Friday June 19 to pick it up. They contacted both my references at that time and also my mother was the guarantor. On Friday at 4pm they gave the letter that it was under entitlement review and to come back Monday.
Monday at 930am they told me it was waiting 1 final verification and they would contact me in 10 - 60 min or more. I waited all day with no luck and missed my flight. Now we are June 27th..
Since then I have
Received my physical birth certificate and found my old passport number. Provided both to them. Also had local MP try to help and they couldn’t do anything to help with the passport entitlement ane investigation office within the IRCC.
I am out thousands of dollars and have emotional hardships in my relationship and no answers anywhere.
Has anyone had this happen ?
I am a Canadian born and raised citizen.
What was the wait time ? What was the outcome. Thank you - desperate Canadian
