Learning Setswana

Although I grew up in Botswana, I spent most of my time at home and away from people. My parents never let me go out and do things, interact with people. In doing so, I never learnt how to speak or understand Setswana. For my degree, I went out of Botswana and met many people from all over the world. Sometimes, I feel a bit embarrassed when I introduce myself because my friends and acquaintances will ask me to speak in Setswana and I won't know what to even say. On top of that, my African friends also know their mother tongue while I can't even bring myself to speak without stuttering a million times.

That being said, I do want to learn Setswana. I want to connect myself to the home I grew up in. Whether that be through shows, music, Youtube/Tik tok videos or even books. I want to build a strong foundation to learn and eventually converse with people from my home. If anyone has an advice/resources, please do share with me! Thank you!

Ask me anything (Sunway Edition)

Moving to a new country can be daunting, especially if you've never left home before. Last year, after I got my IGCSE results, I applied for MUFY in Sunway College in Malaysia. It was quite a jump from where I grew up (Botswana). Its easy to feel lost, confused and unsure, I know I did. I'd like to help people who have questions about Sunway or just need help around. So feel free to ask away!
