She's got my heart, I've got her hand, so we are safe and sorted. 🥰

She's got my heart, I've got her hand, so we are safe and sorted. 🥰
My favorite fact about rats is that they enjoy being tickled, and it is so exciting to have a girl that proves it! When she plays, she often flips over so I can tickle her tummy.
Little Bird looooves scritches
Rushed a rat to the vet because she was making little grunting noises (very softly). She's on the tail end of her antibiotic dose for a mild URI and I'm a new rat owner with a fraught start to rat ownership, so I'm jumpy. The noises started a couple days ago and got more consistent yesterday, so I emailed the vet. They asked me to bring her in, so I took off work early today and drove 2 hours to the vet.
Lungs good, mood good, heart good, weight good. Rats get cuddles from the vet and the front desk staff. Vet diagnoses her with "happy"
The start of the noises corresponds with us beginning free roam sessions. She was just really happy and excited and I totally crammed her and a sister into the carrier and rushed her to the vet. Whoops. Better safe than sorry, I guess.
Madeline is getting more comfortable with me 🥹
Madeline is not a mouse. She is vet-diagnosed as a rat, I promise. Just a freakishly wittle baby dwarf.
It absolutely cracks me up that Madeline is the one that takes the bigger girls up on their *special girl time of the week*. Like, sorry for watching, but that's the funniest shit I've ever seen.
Madeline really is a rat, I promise. Just smol
They all have me wrapped around their little fingers 🥰
Not sure if they were more entertained or if I was.
Edit: Because I got the question: Madeline is a very tiny dwarf rat, not a mouse. Rats and mice should not be allowed to interact.
Well, two of them. Their sister, Madeline, was not feeling well at the time.
Agouti is Moscow and Siamese is Little Bird. I am a new rat mom but they are so outgoing and sweet already.
