Vertical Stripe on Round Semicircle Shape of Amigurumi

Hi

I've been in a crochet turtle amigurumi obsession, and I've been trying various color combinations and patterns on the turtles. Right now I'm trying to make a turtle with the Gulf racing colors (light blue and orange) for someone who is into cars. I was using AI on a picture of a watermelon turtle I already crocheted to see in advance how I liked various color layouts, like where to place the blue and orange, or where to make stripes, etc. It came up with a very cute color layout, but I'm struggling with how to actually translate that into reality. The attached pictures are the AI's ideas. Ignore the watermelon seeds on the fins of one of them. That's a leftover from the original watermelon turtle that the AI didn't remove. My question: How can I make the vertical orange stripe on the round shell?

I have already made my own version of this where I crocheted the shell in the round, crocheted an orange stripe, and then sewed the stripe into the shell, but I don't love the result. It looked a bit lumpy and it was hard to keep symmetrical. I'd like it to be all in one layer, if that makes sense. It seems basically impossible to actually crochet a vertical stripe while working in the round and increasing in size and stitch count.

Is it possible to crochet the stripe and two other flat pieces and then join them to create the same semicircle shell shape? I can make the stripe easily, but what shape would the other two size pieces be? How would I create that? I'm not good at visualizing that sort of thing, and math is not my strong point, so I don't know what to do. Could I make the orange stripe, then attach the blue yarn on each side of the stripe to somehow create the rest of the shell?

Any ideas or suggestions would be helpful!
