I use ChatGPT constantly. Sometimes it's incredibly useful. Sometimes it drives me fucking insane.
I use ChatGPT a lot. Probably more than most people.
Research, fact checking, writing, analyzing things, long projects, organizing information, thinking things through, and as a kind of external memory.
When it works, it's fucking useful.
That's exactly why it pisses me off so much when it doesn't.
I also use dictation constantly. Not Voice mode. I mean speech-to-text. I talk, it gets transcribed, and I send it.
So my reactions can end up in the chat pretty raw.
And yes, sometimes that means I'm literally swearing at ChatGPT or shouting at my phone.
I know how stupid that sounds. I know I'm yelling at software.
But I'm not getting angry because one answer was slightly wrong.
The thing that drives me insane is the correction loop.
I give a clear instruction.
ChatGPT ignores part of it.
I correct it.
The correction causes another mistake.
I correct that.
Then it tells me everything is fixed.
It isn't.
And suddenly a simple thing that should have taken a couple of minutes has turned into 20 minutes, an hour, or sometimes much longer.
At that point I'm not using an AI assistant anymore. I'm fucking supervising it.
That's the part I think people underestimate.
AI is supposed to reduce work, but heavy use also creates this completely different kind of work: checking whether it actually followed the instruction, checking whether it invented something, checking whether it changed something you explicitly told it not to change, and then fixing the damage when it did.
One mistake doesn't matter.
Years of repeated correction loops absolutely do.
There have been days where ChatGPT has genuinely left me mentally exhausted because I spent so much time correcting something that should never have become a problem in the first place.
And the fucked up part is that I still use it all the time.
Because it's not useless.
If it was useless, I would have deleted it ages ago.
It can be extremely good. It can save me a huge amount of work. I've had genuinely useful conversations with it and used it for things I would have had a much harder time organizing on my own.
That's what makes the whole thing so weird.
I've literally called ChatGPT my "enemy" before.
Not because I think it's conscious or secretly trying to fuck with me.
I mean because of the effect it can have.
A tool that's supposed to save time can suddenly become the thing that wastes the most of it.
And conversational AI makes this worse in a way normal software doesn't.
Normal software can crash.
ChatGPT can make a mistake, misunderstand your correction, confidently explain the misunderstanding, apologize for the wrong thing, and then continue from the same false premise.
That loop is what makes me lose my shit.
So I'm curious about other people who use ChatGPT really heavily.
Not a few questions per week. I mean daily, long conversations, projects, research, writing, memory, all of it.
Do you get the same kind of accumulated frustration from repeated correction loops?
And have you ever ended up literally arguing with the software because something that should have been simple turned into a complete fucking mess?
