What is going on with r/StatenIslandPulse?

So, r/StatenIslandPulse is a sub that belongs to the Staten Island Advance / SILive. They usually post five or six stories per day, but have posted nothing at all for 10+ days. And now they want members to "request to post" beforehand.

So I know that SI Advance catches alot of grief for some of what it puts up there, including for its increasingly out-of-touch editorial disposition. But it seems like they are just giving up, or at least laid off the intern who was posting its stories/monitoring the sub.

Anyone know the back story?

Update: According to SI Advance, it does not actually run r/StatenIslandPulse . My mistake. But it has been their outlet of choice on Reddit, so the local news outlet is not much represented here.

On SI Live today: "From top cop to City Hall? Ex-NYPD chief from Staten Island eyes 2029 NYC mayoral run"

The entire article seems lifted from a flattering press release, with the two sentence caveat "Chell’s tenure has been laced with some controversy, including allegations that he violated the New York City Conflict of Interest Law through his social media activity and appearing on multiple news outlets during a political rally."

Dear god. Google this guy. He wore his full NYPD unform to a Trump rally. He shot a suspect in the back, then said it was an accident. He recently took to social media to say that fans of a certain political commentator are "friends" of the NYPD and don't get traffic tickets. He was disciplined for tax evasion. He has a nearly $300,000 annual retirement income in perpetuity after retiring with a "foot injury."
