Squadron Command as a DSG

Any commanders or chiefs out there, I’m looking for wisdom and experience regarding squadron commanders in a DSG position. How much are you working, for real? How are you balancing your regular job? Who are you leaning on to get shit done and what tasks are those people doing that a full time commander would normally do? Anything else I should know? For background, this is in the MSG and I’ve been this career field my entire career, so no learning curve. I do live two hours from my unit, making travel easy, but still impacts my family’s daily routine.

Kindergarten Lunches

What lunchbox are we using for school lunches? I’m not trying to buy all new containers, but I’d like to avoid plastic baggies as much as reasonable and glass will definitely break at some point on the way there or on the way home.

Also, what are we putting in the lunches? I’d like to reasonably avoid processed meats i.e. lunch meat and avoid all the packaged foods i.e. chips, little muffins, fruit snacks.

I may have messed up

Northwest IL, third year. My bees swarmed on Apr 23 and again today. The queen was very flighty. I caught her three times and eventually trapped her and put her in my swarm box and brushed the rest of the bivouac into the box. In the moment, I thought, maybe she’ll be less flighty if I put eggs in there. So I did. Except the frame of eggs still had a lot of bees on it from another hive. The swarm was pretty small, so now I’m worried if I release the queen, will the other bees try to kill her?

Photos are the first swarm, which is thriving in its own hive now. I forgot to take pictures today.
