21st Sept Off Campus Interview Experience ( Selected for Sp L1)
I had solved 2 problems fully in the inperson coding test.
Interview started with 2 DSA questions on the Wingspan portal.
The interviewer asked me to solve 1. On the portal, we had 30–40 mins, but I solved it in around 15-20 mins. I only read the first question and solved it.
Q1)
We had to find the maximum length of an increasing sequence, but we could only choose one element from the extreme left or extreme right of the array.
Initially, we can only see the extreme left and extreme right elements. If we select the left element, then for the next selection we can choose from the 2nd element from the left or the extreme right. Similarly, if we select the right element, we can choose from the extreme left or the 2nd element from the right.
It was basically a normal 2-pointer greedy approach.
Took a screenshot of the passed test cases and a selfie.
Q2)
Didn't read it.
He asked me to explain the approach, do a dry run with a test case, and explain the time complexity.
Then he gave me another DSA question (it was easy). He asked me to explain the approach and time complexity.
When I solved it, as a hashmap/set was used, we had a discussion regarding the time complexity of hashmaps. Then he asked me to optimize the solution.
He also asked a question related to Java OOPs, specifically function overriding.
Then he asked another question related to JavaScript scope resolution.
Later, he asked questions from my resume and projects.
I had MERN stack projects.
Asked me to explain middlewares.
There was a discussion related to authentication.
Asked me to write code for how to create a server in Node.js.
Asked Question about Promises in JS.
He asked if OOPs can be implemented in Javascript.
Later, he asked me to explain how inheritance can be implemented in Node.js.
Asked the difference between package.json and package-lock.json.
Asked how I deployed my project and how it actually gets deployed.
Asked which github commands I know or might have used.
Asked if my project is scalable. We had a discussion on that , I explained how could I scale it.
Later, one question regarding DBMS/SQL . It felt simple,
2 Tables were given and problem and we needed to get proper corresponding values so it was related to joins.
but I'm not sure if he expected anything else.
At last, he took one copy of my resume and the worksheets.
Some of his questions were quite vague, so I had a tough time figuring out what exactly he was asking.
It went around 1 hour.
On 5 oct I received my offer letter at around 4:30.
