#1 2025 BYU vs Texas Tech (Big 12 Championship)

The obvious number one. Fans had to wait several decades to win a conference championship. More than 85 thousand fans were in attendance at AT&T stadium. It was the largest attended Big 12 championship game ever.

#2 2025 BYU @ Texas Tech 

This was the biggest home game in Lubbock since 2008. It was a Top 10 matchup and College Gameday was in town and Herbstriet and Fowler called the game. This win helped solidify Tech to making the College Football Playoff.

#3 2025 Texas Tech @ Utah 

Utah was ranked #16 at the time and they had a hostile environment. This win was crucial for Tech’s historical 2025 season. Coach McGuire commented after the game how intense and loud the stadium environment was.

#4 2022 Texas @ Texas Tech

This was the final time playing Texas in Lubbock as Big 12 members. Tech beat them in OT and they were ranked #22 at the time. After the game, Coach McGuire made the now famous quote “Everything runs through Lubbock.” After coming close to beating them in Lubbock several times since 2008 it finally happened this game.

#5 2022 Oklahoma @ Texas Tech

This was the final time playing Oklahoma as Big 12 members. Oklahoma had a down year but this was a huge overtime win since we had not beaten them since 2011. 

#6 2017 Texas Tech @ Texas

This much needed upset win got Tech to 6-6 to become bowl eligible. It also saved Kingbury’s job another year which ended up being a small downside. After starting McLane Carter as QB they benched him in the second half for Nic Shimonek. He and the defense getting a late interception led Tech to come back and win.

#7 2022 Ole Miss vs Texas Tech (Texas Bowl)

This game was the finishing touch of a great season. Tech never trailed and won convincingly 42-25. Lane Kiffin was butthurt and tried starting drama after the game about our players.

#8 2013 Arizona State vs Texas Tech (Holiday Bowl)

Arizona State was ranked #14 at the time and Tech won 37-23 to finish the season with a record of 8-5 in Kingsbury’s first year. ASU was favored by 11 points in this game so it was a big upset for Tech.

#9 2021 Mississippi State vs Texas Tech (Liberty Bowl)

Mississippi State was not that good that year with having a regular season record of 7-5. But what made this game so interesting was Mike Leach being their coach at the time. This was a very emotional win for a disappointing season where Matt Wells got fired midway through the season. This game was never in doubt as Tech won 34-7.

#10 2024 Texas Tech @ Iowa State 

This was a tough road game and ISU was ranked #11 at the time. Tech drove down the field in the final 2 minutes of the game to steal the victory winning 23-22. It was a very big upset as ISU was a two touchdown favorite going into the game.

They don’t have to be rivalries. Obviously several major games have been killed by conference realignment but it’s still been less than 5 years since a lot of them were played. So let’s only picks ones going back 5 years or more.

I love intrastate matchups and would love to see these 5 games with how much many of these programs have changed over the recent years.

NC State backed out of the 2027 game that was supposed to be in Lubbock. That has left us without a Power 4 team on our schedule. Coach McGuire announced today we are trying to reach a deal with an elite program to play in 2027 and possibly 2028 as well. Which team would you like to see Tech play?? The location is TBD and might not be a home game. These are the most likely teams we could play that also are looking for a Power 4 opponent

Our Softball team just beat Alabama to force a second game that will be starting shortly. Winner goes to the championship to face the Horns!!

We have eliminated Ole Miss, Florida, and UCLA all in the last couple weeks and beat Miss St. Hopefully we will eliminate another SEC team again.

I never cared to watch softball before last season. It’s WAYYYY more entertaining than I ever imagined. Enjoying this just as much as football and men’s basketball. Encouraging all of you to watch it tonight if you never have!

Update: TECH WINS!! On to the championship series versus Texas starting Wednesday night!!!

1. Notre Dame @ BYU

BYU is supposed to be one of the best teams in the conference this season. This is a huge and rare opportunity to get a win against one of the largest brands in college football. The environment might be the best ever seen at BYU’s stadium. Also don’t want to see ND in the playoff after their crybaby reaction to getting snubbed from it last season.

2. Oregon @ Oklahoma State

A win for Oklahoma State here is unlikely but it would bring so much excitement back to the football program after consecutive disastrous seasons. New HC Eric Morris is young and intriguing and rebuilt the whole roster. Would be nice to get revenge on Oregon too after they ran up the score last season.

3. Arizona State @ Texas A&M

A&M is overrated every year and they got lucky last season with one of the most easiest SEC conference schedules you could imagine. They really should’ve been another 8-4 team. Arizona State would capture the nation’s attention with a win against a ranked SEC opponent on the road. They also need to make up for getting upset on the road last season by another SEC team (Mississippi State)

4. Missouri @ Kansas

Not expecting much from Kansas this season and don’t have hopes in this game. It’s also so unfortunate for the timing of this home game because the stadium is still under renovation and will have a capacity of only 30,000. But this is still in the Top 5 because it’s a huge rivalry game that just got renewed last season. Speaking of last season the loss for Kansas stung so badly. They started the game winning 21-6 and had a lead in the 4th quarter too. Game came down to the last few minutes and they couldn’t get the win.

5. Baylor vs Auburn (Atlanta)

Aflac Kick-Off game on ABC at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Auburn has a new head coach and there’s going to be a lot of people tuning in to see the score in this one. However, not sure how Baylor fans feel about winning or losing this game. HC Dave Aranda should’ve been fired by now. I know some Baylor fans have checked out until he’s fired.

The comments President Schovanec made today are embarrassing and he needs to shut up and let athletics staff put out statements. This goes against all integrity too that universities preach about.

I’m so sick of it. Sorsby absolutely cannot play for us. Imagine the negative talk that would follow us ALL season long if he does. It’s all everyone would talk about and it’d just be such a horrible look. All he has done is taken a big fat shit on our football program. In as little as 2 months. Hopefully the court gives him the finger next week. Let’s be done with him and keep him as far away from our program as possible.

And we don’t even need him!!!! We have an easy enough schedule anyways! It’s embarrassing the combination of the 3 non conference opponents we have. We’re already going to get enough shit talked about us for our schedule by everyone if we win double digit games again. We don’t need a QB on our team too who in the eyes of everyone is a shit stain as a college athlete.

Got run ruled by BYU 18-8 in the first game of the Big 12 tournament. We finished 12th out of 14 teams in the conference standings.

This program has fallen off a cliff. We went from making the 2014, 16, 18, and 19 College World Series and playoff appearances every year between 2016-2023 to now being uncompetitive ever since.

Why have we became so bad?? I always looked forward to the regionals, supers, and CWS every year but not anymore. At least Softball is having success and I’ll be watching them

I would make the following adjustments: BYU increase to 70,000. Texas Tech increase to 65,000. Arizona State, Oklahoma State, and Utah increase to 60,000. Kansas State and UCF increase to 55,000. Cincinnati increase to 45,000.

The asterisk next to Kansas is due to ongoing renovations. Last season the capacity was 41,525 and this year it will be down to around 30,000. Renovations will be completed in 2027.

When the news broke out some people in this sub were saying he’d be fine and not to panic. It really isn’t looking like that way. Any chance he plays for us this upcoming season? What’s going to happen to the money we have paid him so far? Obviously it’s not even summer yet but makes you wonder for sure

LB Colin Schooler. (Tackling machine with over 300 solo tackles in his college career. Had the insane tackle on the Baylor QB that saved the game. Did he even get a NFL chance?)

K Jonathan Garibay. (had the 62 yard game winner kick against ISU. Heard he did poorly in Cowboys training camp when he had his chance at the job)
