Gen 3 Pokemon Contests were amazing when I was in 5th grade, and i remember the music and the fanfare but what would it be like if it were introduced back in Gen 1? Who would you use and what would your act be?

I’d use venomoth for some aerial moves with sleep powder/stun spore

Dewgong wirh aurora beam,

Vilepume with solarbeam

Koffing with smokescreen

Clefable with thunderbolt!!

Corbeau is definitely one of the fan favorites but I personally enjoyed Naveen a lot, though I couldn’t tell his gender for a while when the game came out. I personally thought Jacinthe and Lebanne were annoying though. Who are your favorites and least favorites?

I actually love using my staraptor in ZA but there are some pokemon that I just dont like using anymore because they become so mainstream in certain contexts. Also, I tend to deviate away from Pokemon that Ash uses. Like I don’t like using heracross or Hawlucha for that reason. What are some pokemon that you tend to avoid using?

What’s your favorite Pokemon that’s literally just the animal or object with slight differences?

My wife got me into the show and so I made a pokemon crossover (pun intended) for season 28. Who do you think would win this Pokemon-themed big brother?

I’m not a genwunner but I grew up in the beginning of the pokemon franchise when the cards had such metal designs sometimes. The designs now are okay but it was different back when it first started. What’s an early Pokemon card you‘d say has the most aura? Preferably gens 1-3. I included Lucario because he’s literally the aura pokemon and I figured someone would make the joke anyways eventually.

Some pokemon really are awesome, like some are just so metal and made to look intimidating. Others can be very simple. There are definitely a few Pokemon that the developers definitely had a few giggles making or just put a bunch of quirks into the designs for. For me, that just makes them more charming but what’s your favorite goofy design? Doesn’t have to be in my picks.

Mega Starmie- I understand it’s Japanese reference but still so lanky

Dudundunsparce: It’s name is hard to remember with spelling and it’s just a trolling from the developers cuz fans wanted a cool dunsparce evolution

Vanilluxe: it’s deceptive cuz it’s actually ice and not ice cream but it’s still just a silly smiley pair of sentient icicles

Eiscue: it’s literally a penguin with its head stuck in an ice cube

Klefki: it’s actually smarter than it looks but jangly keys is such a funny concept

Quaquaval: it’s not so much weird as just extravagant and very camp

Mega Falinks: the falinks in the middle is so funny cuz of how he’s just holding up his buddies

Personally I think this would make a cool themed gym leader team too. What do you think?

I just found out Ice type has the least amount of pokemon in it. How do you feel about Gamefreak’s treatment for the ice type? How would you improve it? Do you feel the ice type could go in a different direction as far as design goes?

Doesn’t have to be on this pic but it has to be a pokemon with “king” “queen“ or some version of that (ex. “emperor”) in its name. Who do you pick?

My goal is to eventually get good enough to utilize a mono-poison type team. I don’t have Amoonguss or Crobat yet or Toxtricity but there are a few guys I’m good at using so far. Would there be any hope for an all-poison team? Sneasler is still on the table too but I haven’t been able to obtain one on my own yet. Maybe that helps my case but what do you think?

Bonus Question: What Pokemon would you absolutely love to ride on to go flying on-top of?

I’m picking Drifblim. He‘s not pictured but for me a ghost type hot air balloon pokemon is so creative.

This doesn’t necessarily mean you hate the typing but what’s a typing that you even subconsciously don’t like to catch or use in the games? For me since I’m a poison type main I tend to avoid Psychic types, fighting types and fairy types. What are your least favorites and why?

In context, most of these pokemon are fighting types that kind of look like people so it makes sense for them to not be naked but some people have reservations about it since it’s implied that the “clothes” are just skin. Sometimes the subtext is unsettling so you don’t want to read into it too much haha. Do you have a favorite? Don’t mind Mr. Rime getting jumped at Express and Hawlucha having to break up the fight with Double Team.

I got the inspiration for this while grocery shopping the other day. I figure most of it would be my collection of poison types and of course, Foongus, I can‘t resist catching them when I see them.

Some names really throw me for a loop when I haven’t caught up with the anime to figure out how to pronounce them haha. Some of them have spelling that makes me have to look them up constantly. I recently learned Dewpider is pronounced “Dupiter” and not “Dew-Pie-der.”
