Am I supposed to get a compliance certificate for roof repointing and repair?

I have been chasing compliance certificates for a number of jobs that were completed in my house (it’s been an annoying process). I have managed to get most of them sent to me.

I am not sure if I should have also received a compliance certificate for repointing and some repair and replacement of a few tiles in my roof? It was definitely over $750.

Can anyone let me know if it’s something I need to chase up?

Why is it so hard to sell in Facebook marketplace in Melbourne?

I am clearing out surplus stuff from my house and am looking to gain some cash in the process. I used Facebook marketplace in a regional NSW town and had great success selling items, being able to build a little kitty of cash.

However, Melbourne seems to be a whole new beast with selling on Facebook. People want stuff basically for free. If I list stuff for free it’s gone in 24 hours, ask money for stuff and nope. Rare that people buy.

To be clear, I’m not asking too much for stuff. I am pretty realistic. But many people just want you to give it away.

Do other people have the same issue?

Are Victorian teachers feeling angry that the Allan government just gave themselves a pay rise??

As my question says. I’m pretty sure this is the third one in three years. Apparently because their salary needs to meet inflation.

I know the opposition is starting to have a field day with how inappropriate this is, when they are denying pay rises to ES staff etc.

If I change public schools, will this affect a novated lease on a car?

I am thinking of NL an EV car later in the year (or whenever our pay gets sorted), but I am also thinking of changing schools (public education).

Does changing schools into a new job count as a new workplace and they’d expect to pay it out? Or do we fall under Department of Education banner, so therefore continuous appointment, regardless of school.?

(VIC) Has anyone salary packaged a phone with MAXXIA? Is it worth it?

I use my phone all day. I use it to authenticate Compass, mark my rolls, Google Classroom to generate kids names randomly for cold calling, playground duty, and WattsApp is a common communication method.

In addition, I need to be able to be contacted quickly in case something goes down with a child, as I am a Coordinator.

So I’ve discovered I can salary sacrifice a phone and smart watch. My iPhone 12 and series 6 smart watch are coming to the end of their support period, so I’m thinking of upgrading to a 17.

Has anyone done this and how does it work. I contacted MAXXIA and they’ve sent me the form and link for information but they wanted to sign me up straight away, which I balked at until I know how it works.

So, looking for someone that has used the process.

Novated Lease as a Teacher (VIC)

Hi all,

I’m considering doing NL on an EV car in next few months. MAXXIA is only option.. So looking for opinions from others who may already be doing this.

A) do you think it’s worth doing? I’m on top scale.
B) does the money come out before superannuation and then super is calculated on post NL amount?

Any opinion would help

Is the Catholic System ok to work in? (VIC)

I’m currently actively looking to leave my current school (Public School) at the end of this year. I am due for LSL to come through at some point this year, so I’m hesitant about leaving the public system. I’ve previously worked in independent, private schools for a few years and they were not for me.

A Catholic School not far away from my home (15-20 minute drive) has advertised a Head of Department role that I may be interested in but I’m not sure if it’s smart leaving public. It’s in Melbourne Diocese.

I am not Catholic but I don’t object to going to church or anything. I’ve even been to the Vatican and have Pope John Paul 2 on tape somewhere.

Just wondering how other people who have made the leap have faired.

AEU agreement does not mention 38 hour week on site and meetings nor public school funding

So a four year deal front loaded.

I want it in writing that there is no mandated meetings and we are not mandated to be on site for 38 hours. Which breaks the flexible work arrangement their own government put in place.

Absolutely no mention of public school funding, so what happened to that?

I’m not sure how I feel about this. I hate the mandated time on site and meetings. So I’m feeling this needs to be voted down if they aren’t clarified.
