So Hershel really IS canonically gay, right?

I've been trying to get Yana on my team, and am told that as a prerequisite I need to complete the quest "in defiance of all known laws" quest. However, I'm lost and stuck and don't know what to do next.

I've completed all the sub-tasks(?) except for "Figure out what Tempo was *really* doing with the imprinting device". I've exhausted all dialogue options with Yana except a locked white check GREY MATTER option for "What's tempo got you mixed in?" with a single digit chances of success. Is the success of that check the only thing blocking me from completing the quest?

For a moment, I thought maybe more interactions with Dante would help move it forward? But I can't access the Jail now that I've made contact with him there once and survived past the torture scene.

Any help here would be appreciated. Am I soft-locked? Do I need to pass this GREY MATTER option? or something else?
