Roller ramp for fiberglass cat
I am toying with the idea of keeping a fiberglass cat (like an H16, 17 or 18) on a rocky lake beach I have access to. The rocks in the water near the shore range from bedrock, to melon sized angular chunks to small shale cobbles. I found 5 aluminum ladder rollers with rubberized rollers. Each ladder is 6' long and 21” wide with three rollers separated by about 3' (see image). I am thinking of building a 15' ramp for each cat hull that each use two ladders. The ladders would be held in place using a wood frame. The frame would be built with a lip to keep the hulls on track as they are pulled up the ramp. I would use a pulley to make it easier to pull the 300 - 400 lb boat up slope. The lake level varies by a few feet during the year so I would need to adjust the location of the ramp as the shore recedes or advances. Would such a contraption be safe for the hulls (assuming the daggerboards in the 17 and 18 are up)?
