So I recently changed my cartridge….
I recently changed the cartridge on my Pioneer Pl-540. I’m pretty certain that the old needle hadn’t been changed in a very long time. It had a tendency to skip but sounded good and warm. So I got this new cartridge and it sounds shrill. The highs such as snares and high hats are kind of cutting. I’ve adjusted the tone arm every way I can, but still not great. Should I try a new cartridge or a just needle, or replace the head entirely? Maybe get a receiver to adjust the highs and lows? It’s currently running strait to my klipsch speakers. I have read that it takes a while to “break in” a new needle, but I’ve played nearly 50 records on this new needle. Thanks in advance.
