I’m so f*%#ing sick of being hypothyroid!!!!!

I f%#&$ing hate this disease!!! I hate waking up with more fat in my midsection and bigger boobs daily. I hate the handfuls of hair in the shower and that I’m balding. I hate that I have to wait six weeks to increase my dose. I hate that I’ve gained 50 lbs in 4 months. I hate that I had this managed for 18 years and post pregnancy I became severely hyper then hypo and had to have dose go from 350 to 100. I hate that t3 feels like it stops working after 8 hours. I hate that I can only increase 12.5-25mcg every 6 weeks. I hate knowing I’m about 175mcg shy of levo til I’m at the correct dose and that I’m about 30 weeks out from being normal. I hate this rapid weight gain. I hate that everything else has been checked and that yep tsh 10, free t4 .8 free t3 2… I’m under medicated. I hate that it looks like I’m eating a dozen donuts a day. I hate that I miss my old energy and body so much.

I hate this f%#&ing disease!!!!!! Feel free to vent if you need to…

How do I leave someone when I’m so hypothyroid and it’s too debilitating to leave them

I’m in a relationship that Im disrespected in front of my kids and trying to have the strength physically to be able to leave it. What do I do while I’m waiting to no longer be debilitating my hypo to where I’m able to leave. Maybe I should try to just do counseling or therapy and push for that since we have a 9 month old together. I’m not sure what to do. My self esteem and self confidence is down because I feel like I’m walking on egg shells. It’s making me depressed and having no motivation to want to do things because I feel I’m always being judged. The thing is though I do know with being so hypothyroid maybe a lot of it is truly depression from the hypothyroidism. I know id be able to handle this better when I’m no longer hypo. Does anyone else experience mental health issues when they’re hypo? I guess looking for solidarity because my self esteem is so low right now. I feel no respect from him. My daughter (11) doesn’t see a man who is building me up with his actions. He says he loves me all the time even in front of her but he questions everything I do as if I’m incompetent. He makes me feel like he thinks I’m stupid or causing problems. My daughter gets mad at me for not ignoring him. It’s a very toxic relationship but I feel like we should try counseling maybe for my son. Well in truth I’d like counseling because there have been some good memories with him me and my daughter. I go back and forth on if I should leave him or not. I’m scared of how to survive on my own with this disease because right now I’m unable to have a job well because I have a baby as well and just idk.. I feel like he clouds my thinking. When it’s just me my daughter and my baby on a walk I’m able to think clear and even envisioning that I can see that I could get a job and hire someone trusted to watch him while I worked. The thing is though I feel like I just am having a hard time managing everything because of the relationship. I’m sorry for this being all over the place. I have no one to talk to. I’m unable to talk to him ever. Truly ever. We don’t talk. We are like roommates only. Roommates that don’t talk. I’m getting my thyroid medicine under control asap and I’m going to feel better and I’m going to be happy. No one is allowed to talk down to me.

Sorry I just had to write the last two sentences out.

TLDR; sorry I needed somewhere to vent. I’m saying sorry because I’m used to feeling ashamed for my feelings or getting negative feedback whenever I share them.

Before I was diagnosed I told my doctor I had no energy at all and had brain fog. She gave me adhd meds. Just wondering if anyone else was given adhd meds originally for what ended up being hypothyroidism

I’m just curious if anyone else before diagnosed was given adhd meds because their doctor thought it was best for brain fog and low energy. Before I was diagnosed at 21, I thought I was just getting older and that’s just all what happened with getting older. I remember waking up and taking the adhd meds only to fall back asleep be unable to be awake until it kicked in.

19 years later… I cannot believe that’s what was going on!! I’m perplexed that’s how it went about and wondering if it by chance was like that for anyone else just out of curiosity

Losing faith. Deep depression and fatigue.

I’m very hypo right now but I just upped t3 dose and can’t increase anything (I believe for 6 more weeks) I take a depression medicine already but I am feeling so much depression from hypothyroidism. I think also anxiety because I’ve gained so much weight in my mid section and fat I. My thighs and I’m just nervous about my arteries not getting clear as usual by my liver and build up because my body isn’t running normal. Please bear with me. I know this sentence structure is all over the place. It maybe shows the fatigue and fog I’m in. I feel so lost. I’m normally a go getter, multi tasker. I’m so depressed it’s hard to do anything. Getting a shower, taking care of my children, everything is very very difficult. How do you get through the six weeks of waiting until an increase? How do I survive this? :’(

Is weight a sensitive subject for everyone?

This may be a stupid question but I just learned that weight is maybe NOT a sensitive subject for everyone. I’m not sure if this is from growing up and being commented on my weight by my father often but I thought everyone was sensitive about their appearance and weight.

Is this not the case? Asking this I feel stupid because it probably isn’t.. but is weight and appearance not generally a sensitive subject for everyone? I thought everyone to some degree was self conscious about their appearance.

I’m not sure how to better accept myself at this exact time in my life. I keep telling myself when I lose weight I will accept myself more but mainly I guess when I stop gaining daily from my tsh being so elevated.

Especially with right now my tsh being at 12 and having gained 35lbs in the last four months.. I just moved cross country and looking to find a new doctor.

It’s difficult to not hate a body that is failing me. It’s difficult to love a body that is stealing time away from my children and myself.

How do you personally make it through this? How do you personally, while your labs are screwed up, accept yourself and love yourself? Is it possible?

Anyone prescribed more than 350mcg levothyroxine?

I was prescribed 375-400mcg of Levothyroxine for four years and I’m just wondering if anyone else out there was prescribed this high of a dosage. I do still have my thyroid

(Currently I’m taking 100mcg and 7.5 t3 but my tsh is 12.3 and I’ve gained +40pounds in 3.5 months)

gaining weight.. clothing idea help?

After having my son 8 months ago I was pre pregnancy weight within a week. Now I’ve gained nearly 50 pounds in the last 5 months. Been struggling to get my levels under control and now will be moving cross country next week and then going to a new dr

Is there anyone else who is gaining weight and knows they will be probably gaining more before all is said and done?

I was 140 now I’m close to 190 and I’m sure I’ll be 210 within a month or two. This is with eating less than 1,000 calories a day.

I don’t feel comfortable in my own skin. I don’t even know what to wear. I’m moving from Alaska to Florida and I’m used to being able to blend in with hoodies and leggings and not sure what to wear

Any overweight exhausted moms with not even energy to cook.. what do you wear in the summer? I was planning to go to kohls tonight and get something I feel comfortable in.

(My tsh was .006 at 450mcg Levo then I went down to 225 and it was .09 so I went down to 100 and now 100 + 7.5 t3. It still doesn’t feel like I have enough but I’m stuck at this dose for six weeks which means I know I’ll be gaining more weight over these six weeks. I believe I had post partum thyroiditis where you become very hyper post partum and then hypo) my reverse t3 was elevated so I believe I need more t3 than I’m taking. My free t3 was 2.0 at 225 Levo and at 100 Levo so I don’t think raising Levo would help.. any advice at all would really help)

Anyone who has had to experience weight gain from this, if you could share your story of surviving this. This is the most I’ve ever gained from this disease. Its put me through the wringer this year, psychosis, depression, weight gain.. everything

Why do you think your immune system is attacking YOUR thyroid?

I’m curious to know everybody’s individual reasoning or thought for why your immune system is attacking your thyroid in the first place. Whether you think it’s gut health, trauma, stress, nourishment etc.. what you feel caused it for you or what you feel causes it in general.

Please be kind to each other, no wrong answer. For me I feel like it is related to childhood trauma but I’m not certain. If it’s not this maybe it’s just an unlucky hand I was dealt

Advice please

I was taking 100mcg Synthroid and labs came back
Tsh 12
Free t3 2
Free t4 1.7

I added 5mcg lio (to be sure I would be able to handle t3 as I was unable to anxiety wise weeks ago) and felt really great yesterday. I had more energy and was able to do so much!

Today I started on armor thyroid 30mg.

Armor 30mg contains 19mcg levothyroxine and 4.5mcg liothyronine.

Well I obviously have less energy. My primary doctor wants me to do this for two weeks and then move up to armor 45mg for six weeks. Even the 45mg is going to make me have substantially less energy I imagine. 45 mg of armor thyroid is equivalent to approximately 75mcg levothyroxine.

Should I tough it out and feel even worse for two weeks and then go slowly up armor thyroid or should I add in lio on top of the 100 and check in six weeks?

I brought up my concerns to her about how I’m getting only a total of 44mcg with armor thyroid since 5mcg t3=25mcg t4

My gut is telling me that I should take 100 levo + 5 lio and go from there OR take a higher armor thyroid dose. Especially knowing the half life of the 100mcg of levo is going to run out I’m just going to not feel better and need either a higher dose or the levo plus lio.

What would you do?

Lab results are in…

TSH 12.3
T4 1.07
Free T3 2.0
Thyroid antibodies 49
Vitamin D 48
Ferritin 41

Highest TSH I’ve ever had

Currently on 100mcg synthroid
When I was on 225 mcg synthroid my tsh was <1 and my free t3 was still @ 2

Does this mean I need to add t3 most likely?

Really needing to feel better! Would like to take armor thyroid just not sure which dose to start if I’m taking 100mcg synthroid currently

I’m the most hypothyroid I’ve ever been in life now! I feel so validated now for gaining like 40 pounds in 3.5 months and know it’s not my fault. I knew I was going to go hypo to be able to take t3 but sheesh this is the highest my tsh ever was and I’m medicated now. I can’t believe I’m able to do anything! When I was first diagnosed it was 4 and I was really bad. I’m proud of myself for surviving this hell

Would t3 increase my free t4 as well?

Anyone having guilt from fatigue today?

It’s Fourth of July. I can barely even ride along in the car. My neck feels so swollen on and off that it’s giving me anxiety with feeling like I’m wearing a turtle neck. Headache.. eye sensitivity… I seriously feel hungover everyday of my life. I hate this life so much. I’m so mad I have hashimoto’s and hypothyroid. There’s so much I want to do with my life. There’s so much I want to do today with my kids. I want to make memories. I want to be able to run. I want to be able to want to do things besides be bed bound. So much time is wasted. Why does this not qualify for disability. So much I’m losing time, money, memories.. stollen from me because of this. I hate this disease. Why did it have to happen to me. :’(

Needed to let that out along with some tears

Feel free to vent below if you need to

Glp-1 benefits ??

To preface.. currently I’m hypothyroid and currently gaining but have had a gastric sleeve and don’t need to be less hungry, just need to fix my levels, I know that.

I’m wondering what other benefits this would give to someone with hashimoto’s, I don’t know much about them but am trying to learn the benefits besides weight loss

Did you switch to armor thyroid?

I’m currently on 100mcg synthroid and wanting to switch to armor thyroid. I’m thinking I should start at the lowest dose and move my way up but my doctor said there’s a conversion and I’d switch to that one which is 60mg vs 15mg starting. I’m sure she’d be fine with me starting at 15 but just wondering if anyone else switched and started at the lowest dose and worked up and if so how long you were on it. Thanks!

Levothyroxine sucks.. armor questions

I didn’t take it yet today and have to take anxiety and depression medicine as well as a mood stabilizer. I always feel so crappy after taking my medicine. Well I don’t have anxiety and depression which I now see is the side effects of the Levothyroxine.. granted some half life is in me I know that, but wow.

I used to take armor thyroid and didn’t need an SSRI, a mood stabilizer, a benzo…

Converting soon wondering did anyone else need to take any of the above with Levothyroxine bonus points if anyone didn’t need to take it after moving to armor thyroid

.. I had to go to the psych ward from being overly prescribed a few months back. It caused me psychosis. I thought it was post partum psychosis but I see now that my dr didn’t lower me post partum

Levothyroxine/synthroid really sucks.

Wondering if anyone has tried armor and synthroid and actually prefers synthroid

I read they did a blind study and 80% preferred armor thyroid and wondering how much of that is true.

I’ve also read scientific papers that high t4 because of bad conversion makes us 17 times more likely to have a heart attack.. if reading that causes anxiety I’m sorry.. it could very well be the levothyroxine giving the anxiety. Because when I read that now I am able to rationally see it as oh well I know I’m a bad converter from my free t3 and I’m thankful I’m no longer taking 400mcg of t4 (which is a crazy high amount I can’t believe I was rx’d ten years on!)

TLDR: did you switch to armor and feel like a normal person again? Did you start at the lowest amount armor and move up?

Help with lab results

On 225 mcg my tsh was .09 free t3 was 1.9 and free t4 was 1.53

Was given lio but landed in the ER for extreme anxiety.. think it may be related to some post partum mental health issues.
My doctor decreased my dose to 100mcg in hopes that we could then add t3. It’s been two weeks, I’m so so so fatigued but coffee gives me anxiety.

*If I’m sensitive to caffeine and have anxiety easily won’t t3 or armor thyroid give me anxiety as well?

*if you were an endocrinologist what plan would you have for me?

*from your knowledge and what you know, would you wait til tsh increases to add t3? I’m wondering if low tsh when trying t3 causes anxiety.

(I know to see a medical professional but would like to see feedback)

Notes:

The last time my free t3 was at 3.5 I was taking 350mcg levothyroxine, my tsh was .04 and my free t4 was 1.62. I took that dosage for ten years.

4 months Post partum my dose wasn’t lowered and was 400 and my tsh was <.005, free t3 4.2, free t4 2.48
