Can I resume working on my valid STEM OPT EAD while my H-4 EAD is pending?

Hi everyone,
I’m looking for clarification on my situation.
I’m currently on F-1 STEM OPT, and my STEM OPT EAD is valid until June 2027.
My husband is on H-1B, and we filed my H-4 + H-4 EAD application together with his H-1B petition. The H-4 application requested a start date of July 27, 2026, to align with my husband’s H-1B status.
I stopped working on July 27, 2026 because I understood that I should not continue employment while the H-4 change of status is pending.
However, my STEM OPT EAD itself is still valid until June 2027, and my H-4/H-4 EAD are still pending.
My question is:
Can I resume working under my existing STEM OPT EAD while my H-4 EAD is still pending, or does filing for H-4 with a requested start date of July 27 mean that my STEM OPT employment authorization can no longer be used?
My timeline:
STEM OPT EAD valid until: June 2027
H-4 requested start date: July 27, 2026
I stopped working: July 27, 2026
H-4/H-4 EAD: Still pending
I’m specifically trying to understand whether I am currently authorized to work based on my still-valid STEM OPT EAD, or whether I need to remain unemployed until the H-4 EAD is approved.
If anyone has been through an F-1/STEM OPT → H-4 transition while their STEM OPT EAD was still valid, I’d really appreciate your experience or any guidance from an immigration attorney.
Thanks!

STEM OPT to H4 + H4 EAD (Filed July 24th w/ Premium Processing) — Work authorization status for requested start date (July 27th) & concurrent processing timeline?

Hi everyone, seeking guidance and personal experiences on a Change of Status (COS) situation with Premium Processing involved.

The Situation:

Current Status: F-1 STEM OPT (currently employed with an active EAD card).

Filing Details: Changed status from F-1 STEM OPT to H4 (Form I-539) + H4 EAD (Form I-765) filed concurrently with the primary spouse’s H-1B petition using Premium Processing. Filed on July 24th.

Requested Start Date on I-539: July 27th.

The Dilemma: I was informed on July 24th that I should stop working on July 27th based on the requested date. However, I wasn't prepared to halt work so abruptly, and my team happened to be Out of Office (OOO) during this window.

My Questions:

  1. Can I continue working on my valid STEM OPT EAD until the H4/H4 EAD is officially approved, or does requested start date on the I-539 force me to stop working on July 27th?

Since my STEM OPT EAD hasn't expired, does merely requesting a July 27th effective date on a pending I-539 invalidate my F-1 work authorization before USCIS actually adjudicates and approves the application?

If I am required to stop work on July 27th, do I need to take unpaid leave (unauthorized gap in work) or fully terminate employment until the H4 EAD is in hand?

  1. Since this was filed under Premium Processing alongside the primary H-1B, what are the realistic odds of a bundled approval for the H4 and H4 EAD?

I know historical settlement rules requiring bundled processing (Edakunni) expired, but does USCIS still typically adjudicate the concurrently filed I-539 and I-765 together within the 15-business-day H-1B Premium Processing window in practice?

Or am I looking at a scenario where the H-1B/H4 gets approved fast, but the H4 EAD gets detached and delayed for standard processing (~3–6 months)?

  1. In the best-case scenario with Premium Processing, what timeline should I expect to resume work?

I want to remain 100% compliant with immigration laws and avoid any unauthorized employment issues while minimizing career disruption.

Has anyone gone through a similar F-1 STEM OPT H4 + H4 EAD transition with Premium Processing recently?

Any legal context or personal experiences would be hugely appreciated x!

Trying to loose weight

Hello All ,

I am 30 F , 61 inches tall and lost 4.5 kgs in 40 days started from 78.9 and now at 74.5 kgs. Goal weight is 63 kgs, however, trying to take it slow and achieve atleast 67 kgs by August end. I see the weight barely moves sometimes a month for a week and then slowly moves. I am Indian so I eat rice everyday and I have a coach who totally is planning rice and pulses.

I don’t want to do keto or OMAD I have tried them before but would like to have 3 meals a days atleast as I’m TTC. What has worked for you and what hasn’t. BTW I am also walking 10000 steps and working out 5-6 days a week.
