Had an absolute breakdown on Day 1 in Chennai

Hey guys,

Just arrived in Chennai yesterday for college placements from the north, and honestly, Day 1 hit me like a ton of bricks.

I’ve stayed in hostels for almost 7 years, but yesterday completely broke me. Started with a gruelling 30+ hour journey without sleep, lost my water bottle on the platform while juggling heavy luggage, and then got hit by the classic cab scam right outside Central (guy literally took the OTP, put my luggage in, sat inside and demanded 100 extra, blaming "outskirts commission").

By the time I reached my PG in Singaperumal Koil, I was completely drained, hungry, and severely overwhelmed. The area feels super isolated, extreme language barrier, the room setup felt claustrophobic, and with the whole placement stress hanging over my head, I literally broke down and cried while walking outside, trying to distract myself. Called up friends and family just to hold myself together.

I'm doing a bit better today, but I’ve realised this specific area (SKL/MWC side) is just not for me. It feels disconnected, tough to find familiar North Indian food/mess, and the isolation is messing with my head.

Since I only need to visit campus 1–2 days a week (mostly for placement drives/mandatory stuff), I really want to shift somewhere better:

  1. Good PG/Flat recommendations: Somewhere in Potheri, Guduvancheri, or nearby pockets with a good student crowd, walkable North Indian food options, and decent connectivity.
  2. Transit: Planning to use the local EMU train to Potheri station to dodge the daily auto/cab surge. Any tips from folks doing this commute?
  3. Connecting: If anyone is going through the same placement grind/final year stress, or just wants to grab a chai/food near KTR and talk code, prep, or life—hit me up. Having zero familiar faces around in a new city sucks.

Any genuine leads or advice would mean a lot right now. Thanks for reading the rant.

Day 1 at KTR completely broke me

Hey guys,

Just reached Chennai yesterday for college for the placements and Day 1 hit me like a ton of bricks.

I’ve stayed in hostels for 7 years, but yesterday broke me in ways I didn't expect. After a 30+ hour train journey with no sleep, cab hassles at Central station, and the intense language barrier, everything just piled up. I was so overwhelmed that I literally broke down crying on the street while walking around trying to distract myself.

Even today, I’m not doing any better. I’ve broken down again and the isolation is hitting really hard. I’m currently stuck around the Singaperumal Koil side, and with zero familiar faces around, no local network, and placement anxiety constantly hanging over my head, it feels suffocating to sit in this room alone.

I don’t even know what to ask for anymore, but I genuinely just want to connect with people from campus.

If anyone is around KTR, navigating this final year/placement phase, or just wants to grab a chai, hang out, talk about prep/code, or literally anything to break this silence—please shoot a DM. Really need some grounded peer company right now.

Emergency: Need short-term AC stay/flatmate spot near KTR

Hey everyone,

I'm a final-year student arriving at KTR campus on the 18th. Currently in a tough spot regarding accommodation—most local PGs in Potheri are forcing a strict 6-month lock-in contract, which I cannot sign due to short-term academic plans.

What I'm looking for:

AC Room (Single/Sharing) in Potheri, Guduvancheri, or Maraimalai Nagar.

Flexible / Monthly basis stay (No 6-month lock-in contract).

Ready to move in from August 18th.

Also open to replacing a flatmate in an existing 2/3 BHK or taking up a temporary lead/sublet for 1-2 months.

If anyone has a spot vacant in their flat, knows a student-friendly caretaker who allows monthly stays, or can sublet their room for a bit, please DM me! Really appreciate any leads. Thanks!

TCS Ninja Interview

Today, I gave my Ninja interview on campus for TCS. And in technical I have been asked 3 codes to write. First is:

Write me the code for anagram: In this I haven't gave the correct code but told the correct approach.

Then, I have been asked to swap two numbers without third variable and no in built function. I did that code then they gave me a pattern to print which I was unable to solve. After that I have been asked why C++ is called C++ not D, not anything else why exactly this I gave that answer. Then managerial asked me about my state where I am from then he asked the governor of my state, i didn't know, then he asked me about vice president of india. I don't know the name of current but I gave the name of the previous one. He said no worries tell me president name. I told him. Then asked the things can be improved in my college. I fucked up that bit but answered and covered it.

Then comes the HR, this round was just 5 to 7 minutes long. He asked my introduction why I choose this college and all. And at last he asked me am i open to night shifts too and to relocate too. I said yes to both.

So, is this went well thinking that this is my first interview I have given yet and I was kinda very nervous. And any of you think I can get selected.

Regarding TCS drive going on for 2027 Batch

I want to ask, if anyone here gets the issue of OTP being invalid again and again. And what they did for that? We got mail for profile deletion form to fill for such issues and I do so. So, if anyone did the same thing are just waiting? Or get some revert from the college regarding the issue?
