Do i have a choice in letting my insurance total out my car?
I drive a '13 Hyundai elantra. I got smacked in the bumper on the passenger side. Other driver was going way over the speed limit and didnt see me turning. My estimate for repairs was $8,600. When I signed off on the car 5 years ago it was only $10,999. I have awful credit so it still isnt paid off (I was 6 months away from it being paid off).
I kind of would just prefer insurance total it out. Ive been so tight for money and struggling that I really cant afford the god awful payments anymore, even though im so close. I would like to wipe my hands clean of it. Im pretty sure insurance will call it good and take it away, but do i have options? Can I ask them to go ahead and total it out, even if thats not what they originally decide?
