Failure to go into battery on SP01 AccuShadow

I recently acquired a SP-01 AccuShadow to replace my P320 Legion for action shooting competition. I love the gun, but first time out it had a number of failure to go into a battery issues. The issues only occured with Southern Munitions' 124gr Green Hi-Tek Coated Remanufactured Ammo. It did not occur with the 115gr FMJ from a local commercial reloader.

Any thoughts on the cause for those more familiar with CZs? I'm wondering:

  • Does it need a break in period?
  • Does the gun just needed to be better lubricated?
  • Are the tolerances too tight for this particular ammo?

Unfortunately I stockpiled the Southern Munition 124s because my Sig liked them, but now that gun is being relegated to the safe.

Hi folks, I participated in the Appleseed program 15+ years ago. Back then, 90%+ of the participants were shooting with iron sights. Iron sights were strongly encouraged, and the curriculum revolved around them; optics were the exception, mostly for folks with vision challenges, and not really mentioned in the training materials.

I took a long pause from shooting when my children were born, but now my son is 8 and wants to learn to shoot, and I thought Appleseed would be a great place to start. I haven't been to an event yet, but as I try to catch up with the community, it looks like most people are shooting with optics now.

Can someone catch me up on what has changed in the last 15+ years? Are iron sights still recommended, or has there been an intentional shift to optics? How has the training and curriculum changed?

So I've been trying to rebuild my old gun collection that I lost years ago - nothing special, just a few guns that I was fond of, most of which have since been discontinued. Every now and then one pops up on Gunbroker and I bid an amount I think is reasonable, probably even a little more than reasonable, but I keep getting outbid. And not outbid by a little, but by ridiculous amounts.

  • A rusty Remington 700 with an ancient scope for over $2k.
  • A basic bolt-action .22LR for nearly $1k.
  • And right now I'm watching a bidding war for a used Ruger 10/22-T - which I once bought new for $350 - and they're over $600.

Is something going on that I'm not aware of? Is there some sort of gun shortage or run on obscure discontinued guns?
