Why are IT professions placed at P5A in RCSC Bhutan
Despite going through the same four-year engineering education as students from other engineering disciplines, placing IT and CSE graduates in the P5A category feels unfair and is seen by many as a disregard for the value of these professions.
If we look at CST admissions, we can see that many students choose BE IT as their first preference over several other engineering majors. In fact, a student ranked 15th in BE IT could easily be among the top-ranked candidates in some other engineering fields.
Given this, the RCSC should provide a clear explanation for this classification. Many graduates and stakeholders are struggling to understand the reasoning behind it.
There is a growing perception that IT and CSE graduates are being undervalued despite the critical role they play in today's world.
As technology continues to drive innovation, productivity, and economic growth, IT and CSE professionals will remain among the most important contributors to the nation's future development. Their qualifications and contributions deserve appropriate recognition and consideration.
