Best news on CNBC this morning: “Cramer is on assignment”
Won’t miss his squeaky squawking and histrionics today. Let’s hope it’s a long assignment.
Tax Advantaged Borrowing
Curious to know how many Redditors have used this borrowing strategy to offset mortgage interest and interest expense.
I recently sold some highly appreciated investments to fund the cash purchase of a new home. The capital gains from these sales were offset against a significant loss bank that I had accumulated from one concentrated holding, which allowed me to avoid paying any taxes on the gains.
Once the cash purchase closed, I borrowed 85% of the value of the property at 5.5%. I then invested these proceeds in a newly set up and segregated brokerage account.
The net result is that my investments are expected to deliver enough income to pay the mortgage. Any capital appreciation on the property and on the investments will be net gains. All the interest expense can be fully deducted against all investment income across my entire portfolio. This deduction isn’t limited by the $750k mortgage cap.
Has anyone else tried this strategy?
Accenture
I bought a few lots of Accenture after their recent earnings and what I considered a massive over reaction to what was a very good report.
Yes, there are questions about the impact of AI on their services and consulting businesses, but how many companies are immune from that right now?
Long story short, I’m now up about 50% after two months and am conflicted on whether to take profits or hold the shares longer term. The icing on the cake is that this stock pays a rich dividend.
So what should I do?
I’ve seen a lot of folks on here saying they want to talk about investing and hate the complaints about the on air personalities.
Here’s your chance to engage substantively on a pure investing question.
All thoughts and viewpoints on this stock and how I might think about this decision are respected and welcomed.
Trump Account Delayed Contributions
I have noticed that my weekly recurring contributions to my son’s Trump Account takes several days to be invested AFTER the date the funds were deducted from my bank account. I tried contacting Trump Accounts Support. They are clueless. Does anyone else have this same issue? Do we have any idea why it takes so long?
