Went to some very shallow sand flats last weekend and hooked a chonky turtle. Because the flats were so shallow it would have been a trek to drop gear back on dry land. And surprise surprise I dropped rod trying to unhook them. Gave it a couple rinses but it’s developed a scratchy feel on half a rotation of the crank. Reckon I send it in for a service already or see if it gets any worse?
I’m looking to get a heavier setup with a 14k reel and some 60lb line for some rock fishing on an upcoming trip. I’m looking at rods that are seven ft or under as that’s about what fits in the car comfortably. I’m just scrolling on bcc and have found the shimano extraction which has an 80lb model in 6ft10 which is tempting. Is there anything else you would recommend?
Was recently given some gear by mates and hadn’t been having any luck in the rivers so I got some metal lures to try at the beach. Ended up with 2 blue salmon, stoked to get dinner and leftovers for 4 people. Will definitely have to do more beach fishing in the future.

I was recently given an older daiwa reel and on the 2nd time out the bolt holding the bail to the arms has come loose. Having a hard time finding the correct manual to see if it has thread/ length info. Or am I just better off buying a bolt sold for this purpose for 10-15 bucks off eBay?
