If brown is as bad as the analytics say, why did the Celtics choose to play him so much? And more importantly why did it pay huge dividends for them?
This is the part my simple mind can’t understand. As a guy who watches basketball I find myself thinking that it’s a good thing to have a player who is extremely durable, plays huge minutes, and wins at the highest level.
Now we’re all learning from analytics that this type of thing is in fact not valuable. The only question I have is why the Celtics coaches chose to give him such a big role in their team, and why did it translate to extreme success?
You can’t win at a high level in the nba unless you have a star player who can steady a team and create advantages for himself and others consistently. Paolo has nothing to offer as basketball player other than offense and he just led his team to a 19 point half. Watching Cade get to his spots on the other end just highlighted the fact that we don’t have anything resembling a reliable star player. Talk about coaching til you’re blue in the face this team is going nowhere if we are relying on Paolo to lead us.
