The ATIP Files: Uncovering Public Safety Canada’s Role In The Yukon UAP 23 Shoot-down Investigation

How A Simple Access To Information & Privacy Act Request Turned In To An OIC Investigation

This is an update on a UAP shoot-down & debris retrieval effort led by Public Safety Canada on February 11, 2023.

A U.S. F-22 Raptor Fighter Jet was tasked by NORAD to eliminate a high altitude object over Yukon that exhibited anomalous methods of propulsion.

The Canadians were tasked with picking up the wreckage.

Lets' rewind though a little bit. To May 19, 2022 to be exact.

Public Safety Canada being the lead was ironic because less than a year prior to the shoot-down, the Public Safety Minister at the time Marco Mendicino admitted he had not been read in on UAP during a Standing Committee on Public Safety & National Security. He assumed that the DND was responsible for UAP investigations & correspondence.

The problem with the ministers assumption was that the DND quit investigating UAPs in the 1960s. The Canadian Forces handed the UFO investigation over to the NRC (National Research Council) during that time. The Public Safety Minister should have been aware of that fact.

The information was verified long ago by correspondence between USAF UFO Study Investigator Dr. Roy Craig & Canadian officials during the 1960s. Mr. Craigs handwritten notes from April 22, 1968 read that Dr. Gordon Patterson (founder of the University of Toronto Institute for Aerospace Studies) informed him that Dr. Peter Millman took over the UFO responsibility for the NRC.

Those notes are part of the Dr. Roy Craig UFO collection housed at the Texas A&M University Cushing Memorial Library.

So, have yourself a good laugh and I hope you enjoyed the side quest.

In less than a year, Public Safety Canada went from uninformed on the UAP topic to leading a UAP debris recovery effort in the Great White North.
