2027 Budget Priorities Questionnaire
West Vancouver 2027 budget questionnaire.

West Vancouver 2027 budget questionnaire.
End of Mondays council meeting.
A man was arrested by WVPD for removing river rocks. The man said that perhaps some education of him would have worked better than an arrest.
I’ve been walking through a bunch of the creek channels in West Van this year, especially the ones above the highway, and it’s honestly brutal. Huge tree loss, banks collapsing, fish habitat basically wiped out in spots. These creeks used to feel alive 20 years ago now they look like they’ve been chewed up.
This isn’t just “nature doing its thing.” The erosion is way beyond normal, and the culverts downstream are way too small for the amount of debris coming down now. One big storm and it’s going to be a mess.
I foresee major Property damage, Chemicals and garbage flushed straight into the ocean. More habitat loss and danger to people especially seniors and children if a debris flow hits the wrong spot.
The District needs to stop pretending this is a minor maintenance issue. It’s not. Anyone who’s actually walked these creeks recently can see how bad it’s gotten.
At minimum, they need to get engineers out there and assess the channels, upsize the undersized culverts and c/o the the ones that have past their prime. Install debris traps is easily accessible areas for maintenance. More water monitoring stations. Bypass channels for extreme events. They need to stabilize the banks and replant and restore the areas that are basically bare now.
If they don’t deal with it soon, the next atmospheric river will and that’s going to cost a hell of a lot more than fixing it now.
This should be a major priority. It is the single biggest concern for property, environment and life.
Wondering how concerned I should be about this gap. At first the builder said don’t worry about it, but structural did an inspection and right before the builder glued plywood to fill the gap. I emailed structural, but it’s Friday. Should I be concerned? The building code is seismic rated (probably said that wrong).
Thoughts?
I am ahead of schedule and under budget on a custom home build.
I do not need the funds are this time.
Should I contact TD for the appraisal now for the next draw or wait until we are getting closer to needing the funds?
If the appraisal happens and TD releases the draw I assume I have to pay interest on the entire amount that is released.
I had never heard this term until recently and I don’t like it. Seems like a made up term meaning open your wallet.
I remember when people wanted un-obstructed views, and would pay more for those views, now people want bars in their way?
When did this become a thing?
Does it really look better on certain homes?
Is it worth the cost?
Where do they go? Inside the glass or outside the glass?
Looking for opinions on stair case design.
If open
one stringer in the middle? Or stringer on each side?
Glass handrails or steel with oak top railings?
Anything else I am missing here?
Thank you!
Huge thank you to everyone on here!
Made the decision to go no glass, instead OAK HANDRAIL ROUND STEEL BALUSTERS. closed risers.
