AI use: ban, just remove, leave and mark as AI?
We are suddenly at a cross roads. AI is upon us and we are struggling with how we should handle AI posts. Many people are complaining on r/Nakshatras about AI use. We are using specific software that is highly rated for accuracy to check on the many posts that seem to be AI.
We have had a No AI Rule for quite sometime now. Have you read the rules. I assume many of the people who break the rules here, don't know we have rules. If you use a phone, click on the little icon that's on the fra right of the top line that says r/Nahatras to see the rules.
- Rule 7: No AI
Write your own content in your own voice. AI-generated content comes across as phony, canned, unnatural, and commercial. Right away, it generates mistrust in the content. How do we know how it was written? If you are an expert, why would you use AI? A polished writing style does not make the content better. This is Reddit, not a literary magazine.
I have been very hesitant to remove posts that seem to be AI, because suppose they aren't? It takes a long time to write a good post and I really don't want to make that mistake with someone who has put in the effort. Meanwhile, I suggest that people stop highly formatting and decorating their posts with emojis and little cute design things, and laying out your post like it's a poem; it looks AI! People think it's AI, Reddit thinks its fake. Just write like a human. Reddit's filters and automod are a bit dodgy, we are trying them, not sure how that will go.
So please give us your opinion on this (and do it without attacking, or being obnoxiously emotional). Should we ban, just remove, or leave and mark as AI?
