What are we adding to SRP notes/templates?

I’ve heard that dental insurance tries hard to get out of paying for an SRP, & are super picky when reviewing our notes. i just want to cover what i can on my end for the patient & to protect myself during audits🤷🏼‍♀️ I make sure to notate the length of the appt, any vertical/horizontal boneloss, stage & grade, anesthetic used, up to date probing, gingiva description. Is there anything im missing that you make sure to add?

Heartland Hygienists!!!!

I’m wanting to get Laser certified ASAP, ive been with the company almost a year but was too scared to jump on the certification previously. Now i want it, but the virtual course isnt until august. Have any of you enrolled in a course offered outside of Heartland and still somehow had them cover costs/fees? The course im looking into is $625–but $575 with a heartland discount. Im wondering if the company would be willing to reimburse me or something 🤔 if not, ill take it regardless unless one of you have a better option! Im in the phoenix area if that matters.

Why do i always hear “my parents had perio/bad teeth, so i inherited that”??

I dont believe any of that to be true as an RDH! But my cohygienist agreed with her patient last week when they stated they got perio from their parents😂 she was like “oh yeah that happens” i feel like we need to stop allowing patients to make things up and to just take accountability for their poor oral care/dieting. Unless im wrong? Is there something with the microbiome that is passed down genetically? I just want to learn.

Tell me about your pace at work

I (F25) work for heartland as a hygienist w only one other hygienist who started AFTER me (she’s a whole other story). But none of the previous hygienists we replaced had probed consistently, completed SRPS, did itero scans. So now w every single appt im expected to do it all.. with only 60min!😭 its like they see me as a robot but im burning out. Its a small office which i enjoy, but its overwhelming. & Most of the pts end up being at least 2 quads SRP 1-3 teeth with a few sites of arestin now w proper tx. Only 60min tho…howwwww am i expected to scan, update 4bwx 2 PAs (doc wants them every 6mo), periochart, clean teeth, get exam, schedule back?????? & NOTES!😭 or is it normal to schedule those pts back a diff day when they need localized SRP? Like 4 teeth or so total needing the deep cleaning?

My fiancé (28M) and I (25F) have been renting since 2020. We moved to the Phoenix area July 2025, and have been renting a home thats $2.1k a month. We were initially thinking of moving 30min south for a rental that’s going for $1.6k so we can save a few extra hundred a month🤷🏼‍♀️ our real estate agent also got us in touch with a lender just for us to get an idea on what we need to do over the next year. To be transparent, i make $54/hr and my fiancé averages $22/hr, we have a total of $5,000 saved so far. Both of our credit scores are above 750, and our only debt is my school debt ($19,000) and his ($15,000). The lender sent over an application and only plans on a soft inquiry/pull but made it sound like if we wanted to buy, it’s doable in our current situation. How would we do that having no money saved?!?!? She said she’s had a couple clients that are single, or work at chic-fil-a and bought homes for $375k and under. We’re thinking we want under $350k forsure (have to wait till Wednesday for the lender to get back to us after looking over our numbers). Im just curious how many of you bought without having to pay any downpayment/closing costs? I dont want to confide in family bc ik they’ll all shut us down as we’re not married yet, and only have 5k in our savings…. I dont want them in our business and to have all the numbers laid out.

Also im just nervous if we dont buy now, rates will drop next spring and it will become more competitive. Phoenix is already a hard area with the market
