So the egg has been scrambled and I found out too late, but my contractor dug a circa 4.5m trench diagonally through my kitchen slab from my stairs space to the corner of the kitchen to run a soil pipe to the outside (instead of just routing it outside along the gable wall).

In doing so, they dug up the DPM in the trench plus the thin polystyrene insulation (1990 build home). I asked them to patch the DPM, they did a strange job of using ampacoll to tape a new section of DPM to parts of the old or to the trench walls itself. They used the same tape to somewhat patch the DPC where the pipe goes through the wall.

They then laid the soil pipe and dumped 3:1 general purpose sand and cement to fill the trench. I'm at my wits end as I strongly suspect the DPM "fix" is a nonsense and it will fail.

The trench was filled yesterday, so the cement is solid but still curing and I have LVT going down in about 5 or 6 days' time and he will apply self leveling compound to get the floor flat. What are my DIY options here to mitigate risk (I know I cannot eliminate it). A DPM strip over the filled trench, crystalline waterproofing or something else?

Any recommendations for a decent contractor to install a toilet and sink under my stairs? I've two quotes which are very far apart, the first 13k from a bathroom specialist, the second being 5k from a contractor. The latter has stopped responding to e-mails now so looking for someone else. Tx
