Interested in getting into Magic The Gathering? Come check us out!

Hi again r/denvergamers

If you're not sick of me by now...good! For the past 8 months, I've been running a group aiming to teach people my favorite game of all time: Magic the Gathering!

It really is the best game, in my opinion, full of endless surprise, thousands of strategies, and amazing art. It's also a great way to socialize and get out of the house, because lord knows I got nothing else going on 🙃

This group is targeted at anyone who has even the slightest curiosity about Magic, because we want to teach you the game we love so much! It can be daunting to go to a local game store and just sit down and play. Approaching a table full of strangers can be really intimidating, tutorial videos can be confusing, and trying to learn in loud breweries can be impossible, so I formed this group to introduce people to the game in a no-stakes, quieter environment to make learning easier and more approachable. You don't even need to have a deck! You can borrow one of mine for as long as you need to.

The format we play is Commander/EDH, which is the most casual and popular format. Some people say Commander is a bad place to start, but I couldn't disagree more. I've been teaching dozens of people, starting with Commander, to great effect! Besides, you should start with the format YOU want to play, no prerequisites required.

The barrier to entry has never been lower, too. With precon decks priced affordably and proxies, you can make a solid deck for less than $50. There's no need to open packs of random cards these days, unless that is your thing.

Veteran players are always welcome as well, so long as you don't mind answering rules questions and assisting newer players.

Comment if you'd like an invite to our discord and I'll send you a PM. We are located all over Denver, but we often meet around Wizard's Chest, usually in a quieter restaurant/eatery. Our favorite spot right now is the Enchanted Grounds in Littleton, but we try to schedule events in different spots so everyone can make it. We also play online, using the virtual (completely free) EDHplay website.

Stoked to see you there!

Want to learn Magic the Gathering? Let us teach you!

Hello again r/denvergamers

A little while ago, I posted offering to teach people looking to get into MTG in the Denver area, and it was wildly successful! We even have a regular play group now. And so with that, I want to do another round!

Magic the Gathering is such a special and fun game full of strategy and endless surprises, but it can be hard to get into! It can be really complex and the rules are very intricate. However, if you’re even remotely interested, I would love an opportunity to show you the game!

I’ve been playing for quite some time, and I feel I can help even the newest of new players get the hang of things and really start enjoying the game.

Don’t feel gatekept by card prices, either, because I can make a full proxy deck for you!

We would love to have more players, so if you have any interest, please comment!

(We play **EDH/Commander**, the most popular and casual format)
