G'day legends,

I've been asked if I'd be keen on a jaunt to Mauritania for 4 weeks to check out a few things.

The Australian government has the capital under a level 3 travel advisory, and the rest of the country is a level 4.

I'm keen on the adventure, but I'm not super keen on being beheaded by some offshoot of Boko Haram.

Those of you who have worked in Mauritania, is there anything to consider before heading off? Anything to be mindful of? Anything I should make sure the client is organising and sorted out before jumping on a plane? Like work permits for example

I am weighing up my options for several job offers, and one of them involves a move to Tamworth, or other towns in the region that are a reasonable commute.

I'm from Perth, but have worked in regional NSW. Mostly Gundagai, Cobar, Junee, Tumut. I have no idea what Tamworth is like, but from what I have been told it's a nice, regional town, with everything you would need/want.

I have a young family, 7 month old and a 2ish year old. We would ideally be looking at renting, as I don't know the NSW property market well enough to purchase a place. Especially in a regional centre.

From the ABS, the average income in Tamworth is between $54-$76k/year. The Salary I will be on will be anywhere between 2- 4x higher than that. If that matters.

Are there "nicer" areas of Tamworth to live in? Are there other towns in the vicinity that are "better" to live in?

These guys have been advertising for roles non stop. Are they growing and needing to hire more people? Or are they replacing the people they are burning?

Is it a meat grinder of a company?

Bit of a different question for the group.

I was approached in mid feb to join a company about to IPO as one of their senior management. Met with the current BoD and major shareholders, and they like the cut of my jib. Attended some of their investor presentations in preparation for listing and the reception I received was positive. Then old mate had to go and bomb iran, and that delayed the IPO.

Employment services agreement was signed in early march, to be executed once the listing happened. Was told it would go through in early April. That hasn't happened, and there isn't a clear timeline on when it will happen.

In the interim. I have been approached for a handful of other positions, with clear start dates, and a marginally better base salary. Anywhere between 5-15% greater base. The IPO role has a significant amount of equity(~$200k/yr) allocated and awarded to me for every year of service. The IPO role also comes with a tonne of autonomy to basically do whatever I want.

My question is this. For those of you who have been in a similar position, when an IPO is delayed, have you gone back and renegotiated your contract, salary, equity etc? Or have you cut your losses and gone somewhere else?
