Updated Half-Hungarian results

As some of you know, I am half-Hungarian, and half-German (minor English/Irish).

Having seen enough Hungarian results now, the pattern is clear; Hungarians get a little bit of this, a little bit of that, a touch of Bulgarian, a splash of Western Turkey haha. It's disappointing that the new Hungarian regions aren't doing more of the heavy lifting.

The SideView 2.0 does a nice job separating my parental sides, almost all of the C&EE and Balkan (and Western Turkey :)) is assigned to my Hungarian side. My matches are split well too. But... the grandparent inheritance is a total bust. My Hungarian grandparents are mostly Unassigned. I think this feature will require a very high number of matches to work. I only have ~2,300 matches on my Hungarian side.

My German side is an improvement compared to last time. But it still suffers from too much scattering and proxies. Northeast Italy is probably my Tyrolean ancestry, France and Swiss are really just my Southern German ancestry, Denmark my NW German, etc. My English/Irish ancestry is one of the more impressive aspects of this result, I have distant ancestors from Cornwall and Northern Ireland, and it seems that Ancestry did a good job identifying that.

Overall, I'm disappointed that results are even crazier for Hungarians than before.

As far as ethnicity estimates, I think 23andMe is still the best for Hungarians.

50% Hungarian, 50% German/English -- AncestryDNA results

I received the SideView 2.0 update this morning. Some small changes to the Origins estimate, Journey's remain the same. I no longer have any unassigned matches.

My paternal side is Hungarian.

My maternal side is mostly German, some English.

As far as the Origins update, the biggest change was the addition of Northwestern Balkans. This is not a surprise as my sister and my 1st cousin on my Hungarian side also get Northwestern Balkans in the same amount in their results.

A bit of Slovakia was assigned to my maternal side. My mom has Prussian ancestry, and gets some North Central Europe in her results -- I think the 3% Slovakia that I inherited from her is misread North Central Europe.

Some French was assigned to my Hungarian side -- I suspect this is related to Swabian ancestors, I assume that we have some, although none are known.

Really looking forward to the big regional update next month!

Hungarian results (my father) G25 Moriopoulos 2026

The Moriopoulos 2026 G25 averages have been released. If you Google it, you can now find them online. If you would like to post your results please feel free to do so here in this thread.

The first picture is my father's results using his real G25 coordinates with the (No Sims) population averages.

The second picture is my father's results using his simulated G25 coordinates (K36) with the (With Sims) population averages.

Just a suggestion: I think it's a good idea to use your real G25 coordinates with the "No Sims" G25 sample set, and your simulated G25 coordinates with the "With Sims" G25 sample set. It's not critical or anything, but I think it's potentially a little more accurate that way so that's what I've done here.

Everything About It Is a Love Song

As things quiet down between legs of the tour, I thought I would take the chance to shine a light on what I think is one of Simon's great, 'deep tracks'. I'd like to hear how other's feel about this song.
