iPhone 16 Pro overheating + black screen with loading spinner, then returns to Lock Screen after iOS 26.7.1
I’m using an iPhone 16 Pro with 95% battery health.
I recently updated to iOS 26.7.1 about 1 day ago, and since then I’ve noticed some unusual behavior:
• The phone is getting significantly hotter than usual, sometimes after only 5–10 minutes of normal use.
• I can feel quite a lot of heat on the back of the phone while using it.
• The phone also feels like its performance has degraded compared with before the update.
• Multiple times, the screen has suddenly become completely black.
• A small loading/spinning indicator appears in the center for around 2–3 seconds.
• After that, the Lock Screen appears, and whatever app I was using has been closed.
• The phone doesn’t seem to completely shut down. It seems more like the system crashes/restarts the UI and returns me to the Lock Screen.
I’m not sure whether this is related to the overheating, iOS 26.7.1, or something else.
Has anyone else experienced this on an iPhone 16 Pro or another iPhone after iOS 26.7.1?
