Ive just completed oot on 3ds, after having completed botw last month. Botw was my first Zelda game ever, and man was it an incredible experience. So of course I had to play oot after hearing it is not only the best Zelda game, but one of the best game in general. And… I’m not rly sure how to feel about it.

Objectively speaking, I do think oot is better than botw. I think the music is the best I’ve heard in gaming ever, and often times listen to it during work. I think the dungeons are sooo good and timeless, much better than what botw had to offer in terms of number and variety. It also has an actual story compared to botw. The ocarina mechanic, as well as time travelling was also so damn good. To think that this came out in 1998 is crazy (ofc I know the version I played is slightly remade, but still)

And yet…why is it that I still prefer botw over oot? I dunno why, but botw resonated so much more for me. I fully agree with the complaints on botw, how it lacked dungeons, how barren the open world feels. Yet I still love it so so much, even more than oot. Just walking through the fields, climbing mountains, and doing random side quests gave me such a soothing melancholic feel for me. Even tho it’s mostly empty, I still greatly enjoyed it. I wonder if there are others that feel the same?

Maybe I should replay oot, let it simmer in. I plan to play majora’s mask next, then trying out link between worlds and skyward sword. What do you guys recommend?
