She made it to 200k and went out in a blaze of glory. ‘99 CRV

Everyone was okay. 0 injuries. 0 collateral damage. An electrical fire started on the interstate. My breaks started failing and my horn blared before I pulled off to the shoulder and stopped with the handbrake. Had about 30 seconds to run down the shoulder before the whole hood blew.

I’m a home chemist working out of Florida where I can’t buy 190 proof spirits and need to pay shipping fees for ethanol. So I’m trying to take aqueous ethanol solution I distill out of my solution waste (eg my piperine waste), and get some roughly everclear-adjacent B-grade, good-enough ethanol.

The idea is split reflux, so I can allow some of the liquid to drop back down to the reflux chamber instead of going straight to the collection flask.

I’m too lazy for multiple fractional distillations. I want my ethanol out in one pass even if I have to wait. I’m a software engineer, not a pro chemist and I have no fluid dynamics background. Is the pressure going to get too high for this little valve? I could try to modify the stopcock slightly but I’m probably reinventing an apparatus that already exists
