First R. BANG

Kinda wish I got a secondary cause I thought it would make me feel better in my ECs. However, I’m a GA resident and not a vet. Should’ve expected it

PSA get off admit.org while applying

Idk about others but Im just running myself into the ground. Seeing other people get interviews, others with better stats getting interviews at school I applied to, people with similar stats get rejected. Im gonna stop going back to it because it’s not good, always comparing myself with others. If it comes it comes, and I pray it will. Now I’ll just focus on my hobbies and I recommend others do the same :)

Inconsistency

A rec letter that someone wrote for me, they sent it back, and it said that I did 350 hours for one of my activities. On my AMCAS, I put 360 hours for that same activity. I think I gave them an older CV, that’s why there’s an inconsistency.

Would this reflect badly on me?

If I’m being neurotic just keep it straight and tell me to shut up please

email from Penn regarding LOR

“Our letter requirements are designed to allow you to demonstrate your ability to thrive in the rigorous academic environment of medical school. The non-science faculty letter demonstrates your academic well-roundedness.
Please note that four (4) letters is the minimum number of letters you need to submit; however, we are happy to accept additional letters, and you may submit letters of your own choosing in addition to those we require. If you are sending a letter packet, it may fulfill our letter of recommendation requirements, provided it contains the necessary letters.
All letters must be submitted through AMCAS. You should make every effort to obtain the letters we require, as we do not grant waivers. We recommend that you submit all letters of recommendation you have received.
Some letters can serve multiple purposes. For example, if you took a neuroscience course with a professor whose lab you also worked in, a letter from that professor may satisfy both a science faculty letter requirement and an extracurricular observer letter requirement.
Additional letters may come from individuals who know you well and can speak to your character, professionalism, leadership, work ethic, and readiness for medical school.
The most important consideration is that you submit outstanding letters. Outstanding letters come from individuals who can speak specifically about your skills, qualities, and experiences and, more importantly, explain how your strengths make you an excellent candidate for medical school. Strong, detailed letters from people who know you well are generally more valuable than generic letters from individuals with prominent titles.”

I asked a specific question if my recommender would be considered as non-science faculty and got this. So that didn’t really help.

Idk if I should still continue with their secondaries cause I’m still in the dark about their flexibility regarding it.

Prob very neurotic but advice pls

I’m writing about additional activities I didn’t put on my primary and im a vice president of a club which focuses on recreational activities, and I look at our insta and in one of our posts it’s like montage video and in it a club member points to a spray painting of a p*nis on the wall, the camera pans to it, then back to the member where he then asks “what do you think of it.” The whole thing is like 3 seconds.

However I don’t have insta, so I knew that something was posted but since it was end of semester I never went to look until now. Essentially, do you think they’ll search up my club, and if they do, will it reflect poorly on me? Should I message our social media person to delete it. Idk, prob just neurotic.

Guidance

My UAB secondaries are ready, but i took preview July 22, meaning they get the scores mid August.

Is it even worth to submit the secondary rn? Ik schools don’t consider ur app complete, but some still review your app and wait to send you and interview until preview comes in. Idk how UAB is.

How lenient is Penn state abt non-science faculty rec letter??

I have my 2 science and my research professor, however my “non-science” would be my coordinator for recreational sports on campus. He does teach a class, it’s an elective abt sports, but idk if he’s considered as faculty. He came in as a GA, but got promoted to coordinator.

How strict do you guys think they will be? I’m planning on calling tomorrow morning.

Being considered on time/late

So realistically speaking, with the verification delay in this cycle, would submitting secondaries early August/very end of July put you in that early or on time pile?

Casper

I heard that Casper doesn’t play a negative impact on strong applicants but are more important for lower stat applicants.

  1. is that true?
  2. what stats, MCAT & GPA, do you think would be a low stat applicant where CASPER matters more

Are South Americans URM?

Title.

Ive seen some say it’s only Mexicans, PR, and Cubans. But I also see some people say that that is an old AAMC definition and typically Latinos as a whole are viewed as URM.

Reusing essay for secondaries

Thoughts on reusing an essay you wrote for one school for another? Assuming the prompts are asking for the same thing. I’ve seen some mixed opinions
