Randomly doesn’t work?

Hi there,

I know this will sound vague, I’ll try to make it not vague.

I use an Nvidia Pro that I just got, I used to use a Roku Ultra. I have a UGREEN 4800+ NAS. I have some channels set up: some work flawlessly always. Others largely work, but sometimes it’ll do the spinning load and then say playback isn’t going to happen or however it’s phrased. A generic playback failed. It’s seemingly random: sometimes happened on Roku, sometimes on this. The files play if individually selected. It’ll work one hour in the same file but not the next in the case of a movie.

Oddity: on mobile, where I’d expect transcoding issues if any existed, it always works, even for channels I could never get to work on my Roku.

Question: what might it be, or where could I go what could I do to see how to narrow the causes down?

The channels are movies, shows, and shorter clips. So it’s not even a specific type. The not on demand kind, just a basic vanilla channel.

Thank you for any ideas and feedback.

How resource intensive is a channel?

Hi there,

I have a UGREEN 4800+ with a 16TB NAS HDD. I’m curious - how intensive are channels humming along unused in the background? I wanna work my way up to like 10ish, but I wasn’t sure if anyone had a sense how much RAM it used. (Or if it’s not actually RAM).

Thank you!

Best Media Device for Plex 2026

I know. This question again. I don't think I've seen it answered in 2026, so I'm going to ask it with my specific lane at least.

I have Plex Pass, a home Plex Media Server with 600+ movies, a ton of HDR UHD 4K Remuxes and such. I coded my own video game, so I'm pretty comfortable tinkering. I have a 3.1 audio setup with a Denon receiver and Denon speakers, and I want to upgrade to a full like Dolby 7.2 or 9.2 in my future home. My price point is ideally below $300-400. My Plex Media Server is on my UGREEN NAS, and I use Tunarr as well for a couple channels I like to watch that I made for myself.

I've seen people say:

  1. Nvidia Shield - seems too old now? Or we're approaching the point where I don't want ten year old tech?

Thoughts, suggestions, concerns?

Right now I want to lean ATV but it sounds like I'd have to upgrade again down the road when I upgrade my speaker setup, and I don't want to upgrade now to just upgrade again in 2 years. Does anyone have a serious surround system or experience with significant speaker setups and 4K UHD that they go "oh yeah, this device and setup handles it perfectly"?

Thanks a ton in advance. I'm not a newbie, but I do sometimes confuse my DV's with my this and that acronym, so if you use an acronym I didn't touch on, please ELI5. Looking for help and the right answer, not to be proven right. Thanks everyone.

EDIT: I’m gonna pick up the Shield. Thanks y’all!

How to make the game more challenging?

Hi there,

Relatively new to CK3 (just hit 100 hours) and new to the franchise. I have most of the DLC, but playing vanilla.

How do you increase the difficulty? That is to say - I’m pretty new, and I pretty much feel unimpeded from expanding if I want, playing tall if I want. I see so many cool stories on this sub, my games just feel like I’m going through the motions and winning. I want something, I’m getting it.

I’m playing on Normal vanilla, I’ve done a couple advanced starts too. Same deal.

I know I can RP more, but I consider that almost separate (since it’s not playing optimally, in some or many cases). If I want to play optimally, should I go to hard, very hard? Certain settings, certain years, certain regions?

Thanks in advance for any advice. This isn’t me saying I’m great at the game; I know I suck, so I feel like I should be struggling more. lol.

EDIT: I also considered going for certain achievements as a way to increase difficulty, but I was curious what else people do.

Where’s my legendary building?

Hi there,

Relatively new to CK3 (just hit 100 hours) and new to the franchise. I have most of the DLC, but playing vanilla.

I succeeded at a legendary hunt, then completed a legend about that hunt. I built a hunting lodge… or so I thought. I put it where my capital is.

I don’t see it in any of my slots or modifiers, on my map, anywhere. Where can I look to see if it actually went somewhere, or is it possible I bugged it out since there were no available building slots left in my capital? (And then why was it an option).

Thanks for any help. I appreciate it.

EDIT: *built a legendary lodge using the decision.
