Stubborn collies?

It seems like I’m always reading how collies are very emotionally intuitive, very receptive to positive reinforcement, angelic dogs. Don’t get me wrong, I adore my almost 18 month old boy, but sometimes it feels like he’s always giving me a metaphorical middle finger. He could care less about what I am asking of him. I work with him constantly and while he has made progress, it sometimes feels like I got a defective collie. We do regular dog training classes for scent work, nature walks, he walks about 3 miles a day, more on the weekends. I have snuffle mats, chews, puzzles. Anyone else have extremely stubborn collies?

I have been perusing my local antique stores looking for collie things. Finally find one today! Thought you all would appreciate this!

Scent work

We qualified in 5 out of 6 events! The last one was my fault as I didn’t make him check the last object because I thought he found it. I’m so proud of him! Side note, I took him to a FastCAT event and excitedly saw some collie puppies there. Went to tell the breeder I thought her puppies were beautiful and then her mother? proceeded to critique my dog. Definitely didn’t ask for that. I hope this isn’t normal in the dog breeding world.

Our diva

We rescued her when she was 5. Jessie was abused and neglected and had to have her whole coat shaved when she got to the rescue due to skin infection. She never had the conventional Skye cut, but she turned into a diva and was the queen of the house. She unfortunately developed cancer, but surgery didn’t get it all of it due to its location her her rectum. I miss her every day. I wish people knew how great these dogs are!
