Time to maturity

Time to maturity

I have been looking at several recipes on YouTube and almost everyone's recipe says we should have a mature and usable starter by day 5-7 (roughly speaking).

But scanning across multiple posts in this sub reddit seems to suggest that 1 week is not nearly enough and it could take a month to sometimes several months to mature.

I am confused at this discrepancy. What am I missing?

Passkeys for password-encrypted backups fail on WhatsApp

Bitwarden can now store WhatsApp passkeys but it doesn't seem to work with passkey-encrypted backups. Any idea if Bitwarden is working on this?

Private DNS stops working

I use Nextdns in private DNS setting. When my phone screen turns off for some time, I can come back and the internet just doesn't work. I have to turn wifi off and on for it to work again.

This doesn't happen when I use Automatic instead of private DNS. Is there any solution to this?

No suds in soft water

I have a Samsung top loader - 5 cu ft. capacity impeller washer. I have soft water according to my county (1.5 gpg avg). Line middle of line 5 Tide ultra oxi powder and I'm yet to see any suds. I see a few bubbles if I swish the water with my hand but it goes away in a few seconds. The water is not just smooth but it feels super silky to the touch.

I add 2tbsp of sodium citrate and 1tbsp of citric acid in rinse as well.

I moved to Tide detergent a month ago. I was under-dosing with my arm and hammer liquid detergent. I learnt a lot from the sub. I'm wondering if the detergents are fighting some old stains. I'm trying to not under dose now that I learnt my lesson.

I need a bit of help understanding dosing.

Few questions I have:

  1. Water feeling slippery = water soft enough. Is this assumption correct?

  2. I see a lot of variation between top loader and front load folks. What is the typical amount of detergent others are using for a washer of my type and size?

  3. Any ideas on how to please the lord of suds a little bit?

Thanks in advance
