64 Tan RO Hardwear Pro

Happy Anniversary to Nick's! I couldn't be more happy that these folks have been around long enough for me to have discovered their boots, both for work and everyday use.

These are my first pair of work boots from Nick's, 64 Tan RO comp toe Hardwear Pros. I had originally stumbled on Nick's right around the time I had decided to leave my trade gig and try something different, so my first few pairs were just for casual/everyday use. The "something else" job didn't quite work out, so I landed back in commercial flooring and purchased these through the Trades Program. I'm at around 7 months on these now and they are holding up amazingly well. Previously I had worn mostly Thorogood, and at the 7 month mark typically the toe leather would have been completely worn through to the steel, the sole would be flapping around in the front and worn down smooth, and I would have gone through numerous insoles. These have seen miles of concrete grinding, literally tons of self-leveling pour, and installed thousands and thousands of feet of rubber, LVT, VCT, and carpet tile. Besides some staining and burnished spots on the leather, these Hardwear Pros are as solid as the day I got them.

A huge thank you to the Nick's team for building such amazing boots!

My Natty Dingo DubLites with some fresh edge care and back out into the wild

These were my go-to boots for most of the winter, as I've found that the V100 honey sole handles the ice fairly well and we had a lot of ice this year. Kicking through snow for 6 months did a number on the edges and heel stack, so I spent some free time throughout last week showing them a little TLC. I specced these as an homage to my red heeler, therefore I decided to try to add a little pop of red to the edges and heel stack. I did a 4:1 English Bridle/Mahogany Fiebings mix. Initially, I wasn't very happy with the results. Inside, it just looked dark brown. Whatever. Didn't matter. Then I got them out in the sun and I was pleasantly surprised to see the red I was looking for. Pic 3 shows it pretty well.

Much like my red dumpster dingo (the boy has guts of steel, he can and will eat anything in front of him) these boots were inspired by, they can handle absolutely anything I throw at them. They plow through snow, handle rock scrambles with ease, excel at off-trail bushwacking, and look great while doing it. The Natural Dublin Light just continues to get better and better as it ages, the caramel orange/brown color they've developed into is so striking in direct sunlight. My Gamebreakers are my dedicated hiking boots typically, but I do enjoy getting these out there from time to time as well.

I love these boots. I mean, I love all of my Nick's boots, but these have really grown on me. I originally chose this leather out of convenience more than anything. I wanted something rather quickly, waxed flesh is a great option for my work, and the Greener Pastures WF was Lightning Ship at the time. I wasn't super keen on it being green, but it was going to be a work boot so it didn't particularly matter.

5 months into having these in my rotation and I love how they've developed. The brown nap peaking through the (now) muted green WF is just such a cool look, in my opinion. It reminds me of autumn, my very favorite time of the year. I happened to be working at a new build that backs right up to a park with hiking trails that I take my dogs on regularly, so I figured it could be a good opportunity to take some pics.
