I've been thinking about what the next "big" thing should/could be for the X-Men line of books, and the only thing that really comes to mind for me is mutants winning the American presidential election. It feels like enough of a shift akin to Krakoa, but without doing another mutant utopian island nation that inevitably implodes on itself or gets wiped out.

I feel like this could bring a lot of interesting ideas to the table. Who becomes president? Scott, Jean, Ororo, Dazzler (if you're Bendis)? What could cause opinions on mutants to change enough for them to win elections of this magnitude? Maybe more mutants run for seats in Congress and the Senate to push pro-mutant legislation? How do states that are more anti-mutant react? What about anti-mutant militias? What happens to mutants who push more for mutant superiority and separation? Do they fall in line, or do they do their own thing, working against a mutant government? And what happens to the X-Men team?

What happens when Xavier's dream is more or less realized?
