Looking for advise on pain relief for 13 year old daughter

Hello!

I am hoping to get some advise or testimonies from the group here that could hopefully help my daughter.

She is 13 years old and has autism. About 2 years ago she had her first major case of gastritis. She describes the pain as hurting in her chest/behind her sternum. We took her to the ER where they prescribed gastritis and began to treat it.

She used Prilosec to get cured and we thought we were good. Then, about 6 months later, it flared up again. We wound up in the ER again where, unfortunately, they told us again that there isn’t really a way to get rid of the pain. We can only work to get the gastritis healed.

This time, her GI had her go on Prevacid long term. It seemed to be working for a while. But we wound up with another case about 6 months ago. Since then, she has been on 4 tablets of Prevacid a day and 2 tablets of Pepcid. It seemed to be under control.

So, the GI wanted us to pull back on the Pepcid to see if she could reduce how much medicine she was taking. Welp, once again, we are having another major case. She feels like this one may be the worse one so far.

So my question: does anyone have any tips to help with pain relief? For overall symptoms? Medicines that worked for you? I am desperate to find anything to try and help her feel better.

I appreciate any support you all have!

tldr: daughter has been having chronic gastritis for a few years and the pain is extreme when she had a flare up. Looking for advice on ways to help her feel better.
