Why I’m hopeful for the trade deadline

This season has truly been a rollercoaster for a team that felt like a clear AL Central favorite going into the season. From the atrocious May to the great June and so far July. This team is still a solid team with some glaring issues that we hope to be addressed at the deadline. Which brings me to the point of my post. First off in my opinion we need some high strikeout low walk rate relievers all throughout the pen. Next I think we need a high OBP hitter at the bottom of our lineup. If we look at the 2024 trade deadline (also under Scott Harris’ tenure) the Tigers record was 52-57. That year we sold. We traded some our offseason acquired veteran presense with Flaherty, Urshela, and Kelly. As we all know, the Tigers still went on a run to round out the season and snuck into the playoffs. This is why I’m hopeful. There’s a very real possibility that we go into the deadline with a very similar record as 2024. I believe the past two successful seasons, combined with our June/July record will be enough to give Harris confidence to buy at the deadline. Hopefully this means fresh talent instead of 40 year old relievers out of Korea but ultimately I think we end up as buyers. Any thoughts?

HR Derby; Do you like the new format? If you could change anything, what would you change?

Hey all! Every year I find myself watching the Home Run Derby even though the last Tiger to participate did so in 2012 (Prince Fielder). I am definitely a big fan of going away from the clock and going to a swing based system. Watching the derby right now I can’t help but think about how cool it would be if every team had to send a representative to the HR derby. Giving every fan who loves their teams someone to root for (obviously you can usually root for big named players that you enjoy watching but it just doesn’t feel the same to me). I’d even want to see them split the bracket by division. NL vs. AL in the final. If the ASG goes into extra innings like it did last year, you bring in the NL vs. AL finalists from the derby and they round out the ASG.

Would love to hear yalls thoughts on what you’d like to see for the derby!

Shrine…

I have created a shrine and have dedicated the center card holder to those returning from the IL… perhaps a tribute to appease the baseball gods and turn the tide.
