James Vega's Character
After playing *Mass Effect 3*, I checked out the comics and movies featuring James Vega, and in my opinion, the writers really botched his characterization. In the game, James comes across as indifferent; he certainly doesn't idealize Shepard the way he does in the comics and movies. In those other media, he handles extreme situations with seriousness and intelligence, proving he has the makings of a good leader, whereas in the game he seems like a total rookie—so much so that I find the idea of him being an N7 candidate (within the game) to be a bit of a stretch; he basically just knows how to shoot well and take a hit. Personality-wise, he comes off as a simple-minded, ignorant goof—and arrogant, too, considering that, according to the movie, he’s actually carrying the weight of serious trauma. Furthermore, it would have been nice if Anderson or Hackett had at least mentioned James or his skills in the game—given how constantly they praise him in the comics and movies—but in the game, that "connection" is practically non-existent. For those of you who are more in the know: did these three different media have different writers?
Garrus in yes man?
Do you agree with the common criticisms leveled at Garrus? He is often dismissed as a mere "yes-man" to Shepard—someone whose personal growth is stunted—and is accused of lacking a distinct personality. The argument goes that, aside from his relationship with Shepard, he simply becomes an extreme vigilante in the second game; even if you choose not to let him kill Sidonis, he remains loyal to you due to a character trait hard-coded by BioWare, which established him as your best friend. What is your general take on this?
The best set
Comparing Oikawa’s long set and Atsumu’s squat set, which of the two do you consider more "difficult" in terms of technique and execution? Furthermore, would Oikawa be capable of performing Atsumu’s set, just as the latter would be capable of executing Oikawa’s long set?
