Why was Hinata not good at serving ?

He did not have a team to practice with or get play time during the flash back times

But, he could have been practicing serving anyways - right ?

Like, to me it seems like the kind of practice we see the characters do for improving their serves, it is all stuff Hinata could have been doing anywhere all by himself.

Between that and watching some matches, he would have had a really solid serve when the series starts.

Has this been discussed before ? I found some threads about his serves, but they focused more on the similarity with spiking, which I doubt its all too similar at all - because not only was Hinata bad at spikes until halfway through the story, he can't be expected to practice spikes alone anyways, which was the whole point of his flashbacks.

2013 Spring High Bracket (QF to Finals)

For those who want to track the bracketing from Quarterfinals to Finals in 2013 Spring High.

QUARTERFINALS

Inubushi upset #1 seed Itachiyama due to Iizuna's injury.

Fukurodani won a very tough match against Mujinazaka. (Yes, this will be adapted into a movie next year)

Kamomedai beats Karasuno as we all know. (Another movie for next year)

Then finally, the unknown teams. Ichibayashi defeated Hidawa in QF. (Nothing is known about Hidawa except its team name)

SEMIFINALS

Fukurodani beat Inubushi. While Ichibayashi Upset Kamomedai!!!

FINALS

Ichibayashi, guess what. Another Upset win against Fukurodani this time!!!

Champion: Ichibayashi

PS: Yes, we only know Hidawa made the quarters due to the bracket.

PPS: Take note, Ichibayashi beat the 3rd seed team too before quarterfinals.

Unpopular opinion: Komori Motoya's existence ruins the plot completely.

Probably contains spoilers, as I dont watch the anime and dont know how far it went and did it show the funny atomic bomb of the manga.

Komori Motoya. The ball of sunshine, introduced in national training camp arc, complimenting Sakusa's demeanor and sort of bringing the group together.

Ruins the plot twice, in both of the most important aspects.

First off, he is a libero. Usually the smallest guy in the team, and we see multiple of liberos' viewpoints throughout the plot - them struggling, choosing their spot, protecting the team and such. However, he is the best libero in Japan —

— and simultaneously the tallest libero we know of, with a whopping 180 cm.

So you show us the struggles of tHe sHoRt gUyS and whatnot, and then show the tallest and say he is the best in the position used by short guys?

Okay.

But that's not even all.

Because for some reason, hundreds of chapters in, Furudate decided to scare off yaoi girlies and simultaneously set fire to the series meaning completely.

Because Komori and Sakusa turn out to be cousins.

Let me rephrase it.

Best libero in Japanese high schools and top 2 diagonal in Japanese high schools are closely blood related.

You show us the story about the guy from nowhere, trying to raise his way up the sports ladder tooth and claws, and then just casually drop "oh, but actually out of like 3 absolute top guys you will hear of 2 are almost brothers".

You know how in horse racing you can look at horse's bloodline and a lot of times predict its future?

Expect these are not horses, selectively bred for racing. These are people, and the story is supposed to oppose the exact things Furudate later throws out of the window.

Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

Need Help with a Haikyuu Presentation

So I wanted to talk about Haikyu in a communication presentation. For almost a decade it has been my undisputed number 1. And I think what makes it special is it tells you that you don't have to be important to make a difference. It is fine if down the line you don't become this amazing player, whats important is the now and the experience and the memories.

But I wanted your opinion. What makes Haikyu good. I know it is the characters but what about the characters overall?? if you were in my place and had 5 min what n who would u talk about?

Also, P.S. I was thinking of adding a short clip and I loved the last scene with Jozenji manager where she remembers her time and leaves with an accepting smile. But I cant find that clip anywhere on youtube.. Is there a way to cut it? What other scenes can I show? I would love your thoughts!!

Aside from Hinata, who is the best player in 2013 Spring Nationals?

I know Hinata might not be really the best. But it is just to remove main character/protagonist bias.

I also didn't include players from Ichibayashi, Inubushi, etc for obvious reasons.

Yeah, I know they play different positions. But that is fine.

People compare different positions in sports lile Bakseball (PG, SG, SF, PF, C)

So, I guess it can also be applied to volleyball. Even if you are comparing players with different positions like Setter, Outside Hitter or Opposite Hitter.

PS: Ushijima and Oikawa didn't qualify for the 2013 Spring Nationals. But I wonder of you guys think they are better than these players.

If you have an Ace (who can play both spiker position), do you prefer him to be Outside or Opposite Hitter?

Usually, Outside hitter is more versatile. And need to be good (or at least decent) defender/passer. And of course, usually the sets are commonly going to him.

Opposite hitter is said to be "emergency spiker" when the outside hitter has no opportunity for attack. In his position, he doesn't need to receive/pass much. But he is expected to be an EFFICIENT spiker/scorer since he will be like an offensive specialist.

In the manga we see Aces. Some are Outside, Some are Opposite.

For those who knows more volleyball than me. Is it a big difference?

Is Outside usally the best spiker? And Opposite is the second best spiker? Or Vice Versa?

Are usual competent spikers able to play both positions or not?

Is it wrong to say that Tanaka is the top5 best written character in Haikyuu ..?

In starting I though of him as a normal guy, which is just mentally strong and there is nothing special about him at all.
Sure he was funny and has a lot of motivation as his title suggest "the mental powerhouse". But compared to other he felt more left out.
He is a character that people that for granted and I too took him, but during their match against >!Inarizaki, his monologue made me realise he is a human too, who feels emotion and can break down in some circumstances.!<
The writer had greatly showed how a person who is supposed to be the strongest mentally in any circumstances can break down too and when it happen it hits strongly.
He is also an inspirational character, him accepting that he is indeed an average players compared to other talented ones but still the team needs him.
Despite his continuous failures everyone believed in him, he's the guy who would have ignored his failures and tried better every single time but there are movements when he know he is lacking and can't just ignore it.
As he didn't when Hinata tried to cheer him up.
I have him in top 5 also because he is a great representation of being average human but still having great desires to achieve and who actually works towards his goal.
That's something which I relate too.

What's your opinion on his character writing ?

Are these posters made from ai???

I got a few posters, and these three look, like, not the usual art style. I'm asking because I'm hesitant to throw them away in case they're made by actual artists, so I'm here to ask whether these are known to be from an artist or these are ai.

Question: In your opinion what's a better experience: Start with anime or manga

So I decided to start as I've heard it's a really good story and very cool philosophy and perspective of some characters.

I've read that people who watched tha anime and switched to manga felt there is "no emotion" or "don't feel the thrill" while reading. But I also heard people that say the manga is always better because it delivers the pure expression of the author.

So, what do you recommend for me?

I was wondering about fanfics

I always loved to write. And for about a year or two I've had this deep desire to write and actually post my work. But I don't know how to get audience, where is best place to write and post and will people read what I've come up with.

I was also wondering do people even read fanfics anymore and if they do... What audiences?

I always thought Haikyuu fans are super supportive and love to read everything and anything they can find about Haikyuu. So let me know! Should I do it and if so do you guys have any tips and ideas on how to start!

Paper Shadow Art Mini: Kei Tsukishima

Finally got around to doing this. Excited for the next two I've got when I get around to it, especially since those should be much more detailed.

I was a bit confused that it was just using adhesives and punching the paper outlines out. I thought there'd be more gluing since I remember seeing a Twitch streamer doing one the was more intricate. But, that was one that had two characters and not a mini. It's also clearly on the front and back of the package, but I just saw Tsukishima and put it in my basket. I mean I would've bought it anyways.

I also bought the display case separately. It will be very nice keeping the dust out of all the crevices.

Theory: Itachiyama's other players are also great/good

Some people think they are a top heavy team. Reliant on their big 3 of Sakusa, Komori, and Iizuna.

But as the 2012 IH champions, and frequent #1 seed in both IH and Spring Nationals. I think their whole lineup is good. Just like Inarizaki, but even better.

Remember, Itachiyama beat Inarizaki 3-1. (Interhigh). And Inarizaki even got praised for taking 1 set.

Their Blocker (Jersey #2) is recognized by Tendou to be a great blocker. And their other (younger) players managed to win 2015 Spring Nationals in the future without their Big 3.

Yes, they lost in 2013 Spring to Inubushi due to Iizuna injury. So maybe that's why people are speculating that they are significantly weaker without Iizuna. That is somehow true. But they still made it competitive without their setter. And take note, we don't know how strong Inubushi was. (Fukurodani beat Inubushi in the Semifinals. But maybe it was close)

I think the main players in 2015 Itachiyama (Spring National Champions) were already in the team as freshman in 2013. And they are at least key players supporting Sakusa/Komori/Iizuna.
