46 years old and in college - gearing towards literature - San Diego
Hello.
As the title states I’m in community college and getting really good marks here in San Diego. I’m currently in a double major in English and biology (geared towards a radiology technician).
I started school initially to be in radiology, but I fell in love with writing again due to a college professor that really steers his classes towards writing and what we want to get out of that aspect of English growth. Writing WAS a dream of mine but thanks to some unsupportive parenting, I let go of that.
In the radiology field though, the program accepts 21% of applications and on a lottery basis. It has nothing to do with your grades in the prerequisites. It’s also only every 2 years so it won’t be taking applications till 2028. By then, I’ll probably be transferred towards UCSD still working on literature. If the odds are against me, I’ll just be working on that.
My question is how viable will a literature degree be in an AI forward world? UCSD even has an AI program that’s apparently pretty big and nothing could ever sound more soul sucking than an AI gig. Am I wrong in thinking that creative works by humans may be even more viable in the future?
