Reducing heat output 2019 MBP

Hi all!

I recently came into possession of a BEAUTIFUL 2019 MBP with the i7 6 core cpu, 32GB of ram, & 1tb of storage :) Immediately threw CachyOS onto it and runs like a dream. Palm rejection would be the cherry on top, but I digress.

What I’m curious about, is if it’s possible to intentionally throttle the CPU so that the heat output isn’t as egregious. This laptop will be doing nothing that is resource heavy so I have no need for all that horsepower. I have some thermal paste coming tomorrow so I can re-paste the die, but other than that I don’t have any ideas on how to reduce the heat output.

Any advice would be much much appreciated!!

[Assassin's Creed Odyssey] Game has been closed exit code 2147483905

Details

CPU: Ryzen 9 7900X
GPU: RX 9070XT
Distro: Arch (CachyOS)
Wine/Proton - Tried both Cachy & GE DenuvOwO
Launcher: Steam/Lutris/Faugus
Release: FitGirl
Crack Used: Hypervisor Bypass by DenuvOwO + Goldberg R2 emu applied over
Steps taken: Made sure to set AutoLoadHV to False; Searched all of reddit, CS RIN, and google for the error code provided.

Okay so here's the thing. Do I really want this game this badly? Not really. But both my stubbornness to understand why this isn't working & my hatred for the Ubisoft Launcher are driving me to ask for assistance as why the hell I cannot get this to work. I have successfully used this method with Crimson Desert and it was quite possibly the simplest thing I have ever done. For some reason, this game refuses to cooperate and I can find absolutely nothing regarding this issue specifically with Linux. Hell I can't even really find the error code anywhere. I have found 1 comment on reddit with this error code and 1 comment on CS RIN and both of them have nobody responding to them.

I would be eternally grateful if anyone could assist. Thank you kings & queens. I will update any information that I forgot to include.

Same error message from a user on CS RIN.

Going insane gaming on QM6K

TL;DR - VA smear giving me eye strain & im asking if an alternative mini LED tv exists or a remedy to this problem.

I bought the 65” QM6K last year and for movies and tv, I absolutely love it. It does what I need it to do and it looks great doing it. But for gaming? I can’t stand it. To the point where if I play any game for more than 5 minutes I start to get a headache and my eyes strain because of the insane amount of blur happening on the screen. Yes the motion smoothing is off, gaming mode is on, blur is off in any game I play. Anything that could be causing a blur on the gaming client is turned off. This occurs on my PC (AMD 9070XT), PS5 and Switch. It’s most noticeable in titles like Fallout, Ghost of Yotei/Tsushima, and Horizon Forbidden West.

From what I understand, the issue that I’m encountering is the VA black smear. Which is frustratingly just a “quirk” of VA panels and I actually cannot take it anymore.

The obvious answer is “Get an OLED” trust me I get it. I unfortunately have more pressing priorities I need to get to first, but I’d really like to at the very least have a living room TV that doesn’t make me want to gouge my eyes out. I do have an OLED monitor & small 43 inch OLED in a smaller room so I’m grateful I always have those options. The difference there was those displays were sub $400, whereas a 65” OLED display can get wayyyyy pricier.

Long story short, I’m asking if there’s ANYTHING I can do to remedy this. Maybe a different Mini LED tv? I don’t mind trying to sell this tv and get another one for a small increase in price. I don’t even care about bells and whistles, I simply desire a tv that doesn’t smear and is not an OLED. If such a thing exists. If I have to deal, that’s fine. I just want to make sure.

You guys rock thank you kings and queens.
