It finally happened. I capsized my kayak

Title says it all. I was playing around too much on my hobie passport 12 with a heavy trolling motor on the side, and I completely flipped my kayaks, losing my hat, two rods, my knife, two lure boxes (pretty much all my lures) and keeping my phone, my wallet, my keys, the battery, the trolling motor, the paddle, my shimano rod, my net, my backpack, and my pedals… (all tethered)

And here I was about to buy an expensive fish finder to mount on the side…. -__-

I need a new kayak!!

It’s time for an upgrade! Help me out! I have the lifetime tamarack pictured above. I’ve dragged this thing around up steep slopes and over sharp rocks for years and it is finally time to get something more stable. How do you sink a sit on top? You put two holes in hull. I nearly lost all my untethered gear on a very mild windy day, as I wasn’t using the dry storage and didn’t notice it was 3/4 full of water. Had to shift my body around and struggle for the shore in a panic 😂. Anyways, my truck is no good so I need to be able to put it on my roof rack of my SUV. My fishing spots are far and getting to the lake at 5 in the morning just so I can paddle across the lake and be at my spot over 2 hours later is getting annoying. The choice to upgrade comes from the fact I want to put a motor on the kayak to get to my fishing spots faster, the thing takes 5x the work as my buddies pelican sit in.. and I’m tired of patching a $300 kayak with flex seal.

Main issue is I’m not about to spend $1000 on a hobie. Looks like there’s a 12 foot Hobie passport going for $800 on Facebook. Any thoughts appreciated.
