Issues with Tackle Warehouse

Anyone else ever had issues with Tackle Warehouse. Here’s my situation:

Ordered football jigs in a color which said online they were in stock (last Thursday).

Got an email the following day saying their inventory system didn’t correctly indicate the color was out of stock but could order a different color. I went replied saying I’d swap out for this color (last Friday).

I received the order on Tuesday without these two jigs. I’ve called customer service multiple times and they assured me it would be sent out but still haven’t gotten the tracking information. I was expecting to have this to fish by the holiday weekend.

Anyone else have issues with Tackle Warehouse showing items in stock only to be out of stock then changing the order but taking a long time?

If I would’ve known this, I would’ve just included on my trailer order after. They’re extremely slow and don’t really seem to care when calling customer service. Emails have gone unanswered too.

Replacing old worn out bungees.

I have this old Pelican sit in kayak. Been letting my buddy use it so I have someone to fish with. Still works fine except the bungees on the front and rear that hold the hatch on have lost their stretch. Is it possible to replace these? Anyone ever done it? The front I can see there's just like some metal clips on the ends in the holes to hold them in. The back is more like rivets.

Less than 100 feet away from us, police car flips, almost comes over the side and sends pieces of guard rail into the water below. Driver seemed to be ok.

Any other fly-yakkers out there?

Thought i’d dabble in waving the wand at the smallies in my local lakes this season, and as of last week it’s looking like my spin rod will see very limited action for the foreseeable future! However, my eat to hookup ratio seems pretty low. (Est. 33-60%)

So my question is, Strike vs Strip Set.

I watched Alvin Dedaux’s YouTube tutorials and saw the recommendation to strip set instead of strike. From the odd occation that i can resist the urge to yeet the rod skyward at the first sign of a bite, the stripset seems like the way to go, but i’ve found it to be a challenge when fishing out of a kayak. The best solution i’ve come up with so far is holding my rod out infront of me while stripping, and trying to yank the rod back towards me before lifting the rod tip. That being said i still swing for the fences probably more often than not, given the 20ish years of strike reaction training i’ve had through every other avenue of fishing.

I’ve been using both a 6wt and 8wt, floating line and unweighted streamer, size 1 hook with a weed guard. Hookup rate is better on the 8wt, as mostly by the time i realize a fish has bit, my reel is already beside my ear.

Also, I have no idea if 30-60% is good or not, seems low to me or is that just part of the small craft bass fishing with a starvation stick game?

Curious if anyone else with experience chucking bundles of feathers whilst sitting on a floating hunk of plastic has some wisdom they’d lend an internet stranger

Trolling motor for pedal assist with OT Salty?

https://preview.redd.it/xu60b6lojc2h1.jpg?width=1536&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c21621819f9e371eff5e40b6519fe51d1ed7fda2

Old guy here kayak fishing SC salt marshes from an Old Town Salty. Love the boat but it's not the ideal set-up for motorization. I find myself wanting to fish father than my legs and these tidal currents will allow so I'm considering motorization just to help me get to my fishing grounds against the current.
Ideally I'd want something easy to set up for temporary use and minimal to stow while I'm pedaling my fishing spots.
I do not want to replace my existing pedals or have a more permanent bow mount. Am considering replacement rudder mounts or track or side mount options.
Latest consideration is the Bixby K1 on a side or the new rod mount.
But not sure if the power will be sufficient to assist against a 2-3kt current.
FWIW: right now I can pedal about 2mph against the tide for short distances (maybe 1km) but try to carefully judge the tides and choose my fishing spots.
Thanks for any input.

What do you all wear

I'm sensitive to sun and burn easily so I've found good long sleeve beach wear shirts I can wear. But I haven't found pants I can wear that serve the same function.

What do you wear on your legs? And your feet?

Thanks!

Is this a good deal?

Hey y'all,

I found a 2022 hurricane skimmer 106 kayak I could snag for $200. No accessories or paddle included but the boat is in great shape.

I'm thinking of getting it for my wife who would kayak with me (but not fish). Is this a good deal for this boat? I like that it's lightweight for the size and very agile supposedly but would love yalls thoughts on the price.

Thanks!

I’m looking to get my first kayak. Is this a good start?

I’ve been looking at all the different options I have for a budget of up to $1,500 and I just can’t decide what to do.

My two biggest issues are transportation and maneuvering on the water. I don’t have a truck so I’ve been looking at deals on marketplace that come with a trailer but of course the kayaks aren’t great.

I’ve been looking at peddle drives within my budget and they look decent but I’m back to transportation.

Now, I can borrow a truck to go pick one up but I don’t know which one to pick. In comes this one. It seems like a good start, I just need to figure out the transportation issue.

Tips for Fishing from a Sit-In Touring (non-fishing) Kayak

Searched this sub‘s history, but only found one post with few responses so I figured I’d ask again.

I’m heading to a lake house in New York for a family vacation this summer. The rental comes with two touring sit-in kayaks that we can use (pictured). I’ve fished from touring sit-on-top kayaks before, but never a sit-in. I’m hoping for some tips/advice, specifically with:

-Gear storage and management

-What to do when I actually catch something

-General safety tips

Anything and everything helps, thank you in advance!

Crescent Kayak Repair

Hey all!

Crescent Lite Tackle OG owner here. My kayak tipped over on land a while back and landed on a rod holder, which stripped out both screw holes on the track mount it was attached to. The mount's been loose since.

I tried an epoxy fix early on and I put the screw in while the epoxy set. Predictably that didn't hold (epoxy doesn't bond to polyethylene), so the screw backed out and now I've just got two empty, stripped holes with some old epoxy residue in them.

It's a sealed sit-on-top, so I have zero access to the underside of the deck.

Any recommendations on how to repair? I’m worried that I’ll damage the hull in some sort of way.

Thanks all. Tight lines

Best Fly Fishing Kayak for the Outer Banks NC?

Hey everyone, I’m moving to the outer banks of NC and am looking to pick up a fishing kayak to fly fish for Redfish. Ill be mostly fishing around the Oregon Inlet area.

Does anyone know if fin drive is necessary for navigating the shallower waters for redfish? As I have never visited the outer banks im not sure if the area is super shallow/has a bunch of grass/weeds which would make a prop drive a pain to use.

Right now I am thinking about a Hobie Mirage Outback, Hobie Mirage Passport 12, or an Oldtown Sportsman PDL 106.

The Oldtown seems like it would be the best stability wise to stand up and fly cast, but i am concerned about how the prop drive will hold up and if i will end up just paddling all day.

First kayak: sun dolphin journey - stability?

Last year towards the end of summer i picked up a good deal on a couple of sun dolphin journey 10 kayaks for my partner and myself. I managed to get out on the water once (a lake up in CO - Horsetooth) before winter came in. recently got a fishing license so wanna get out on it with a rod.

1 thing i found was that i had to put a bit of effort into keeping it stable. It's been years since ive been kayaking and dont have anything to compare to, is this kayak similar to most fishing kayaks and balance is something that will improve with more time on the water? Or are there more stable / better options for fishing kayaks? I can already see myself having a swim / loosing gear trying to net a 6" sunfish.

Just starting to look into this...no clue what I'm doing...steer me in the right direction.

Fishing kayak for use in a river. Not rapids, just a small winding river near our house.

Does that seem feasible? How "purpose built" is a fishing kayak?

I know I'm coming off fairly ignorant here. I don't want to buy two kayaks. But I do want to go down the river AND go fishing in a local inland lake.

I haven't even gotten to "budget" yet, but I have seen some nice looking kayaks setup for fishing at the local sporting goods store and don't have a problem with the price.

Trolling motor

Still new to kayaking and thinking about putting a trolley motor on my catch 120 what are the pros and cons. Do I need to build a custom mount or should I buy one?
