Anybody local to the mouth of the Susquehanna want to go on a Blue Cat mission?

Anybody local to the mouth of the Susquehanna want to go on a Blue Cat mission?

I’m at my parents place near Gettysburg PA and I’m planning to go down early Saturday morning to get some of these invasive blue cats. I’m making chum and have plenty of baits (picture related). Plan is to get into the pool below the Conowingo Dam when generation is low to chum and chunk. Would love some tips or just a partner to fish with.

Edit- I want to clarify that the pictured fish were caught in a private, stocked, overpopulated farm pond belonging to my parents. It was dumb to post without that info. They were filleted and fried for food. My intention was to use the heads/racks as chum as not to waste them, but I’ve learned that it is not legal to use the bass as bait.

This one felt like cheating

Last evening’s fish is from my parents 2 acre farm pond, caught on a live bluegill. Almost zero effort compared to my saltwater missions. Stocked probably 15 years ago. Striped bass are really the most badass fish.

What other fish can thrive in a in the open ocean and grow to over 60lbs but also just chill in a farm pond for 15 years terrorizing panfish? Migrate thousands of miles of northeast salt water but also grow to giant sizes landlocked in a Tennessee river? I don’t know any other animal that pull that off.

LI sound is a sick kayak fishery

First time out on this water out of Bridgeport. Murdered the Porgy’s, up to 15”, two weakfish including an 18”. That really surprised me. 6 species in one day. The fish of the day would’ve been a 22”+ fluke that broke me off at the boat while I was dicking around trying to land him without a net. That one is going to haunt me. Lesson learned, bring a net if fluking boys.

New PB from the Kayak!

It was a long pedal for this guy trolling tube and worm near a river mouth in MA. Crazy how one fish can make hours of work feel like nothing at all. After two minutes reviving in the current she bit my hand and swam off strong.

Anybody using their kayak to “fish” for things that aren’t fish?

The squid have been thick off the NH coast this year and I’ve enjoyed the challenge of figuring them out. Different than most actual fish. Plus they are delicious. Thinking of getting a recreational lobster permit and some traps, don’t really know how I’d haul the traps up safely. Anybody pulling up any cool/tasty invertebrates from their yak?

Biggest yak fish to date!

44” Striped Bass on a live eel near the mouth of the Merrimack River. So grateful to be able to get out and catch this kind of fish without spending a fortune or buying a boat. Go places the boats can’t drift!
